I'd like to point out that warband makes the game slightly harder on females, since you have to wait untill later to become a vassal. Which means less cash to support an army, although it all boils down to more grind. Being a male noble speeds it up.

I know, thats why playing as a Female has tempted me the most...
Besides who cares about being a noble to begin with, everyone knows that nobility should be earned and worked for other then given to on a platter...

4 more hours then I am starting...

In the end though, it really didn't matter. Started off as a female commoner, and I now have a city in my name (which I had to capture twice, and I'm now fighting the entire krigit sultanate to defend the bastard) and a small village. Defending my city will be tough work though, seeing my limit is around 50 units at once. Thank god/buddah/RNG for the Sarranid Sultanate having their army nearby.

But I digress, all you need is more renown.

First off, how did you capture a city with only 50ish men?

Second off, the best way to hold a castle/city is to just have all your troops stand in front of the ladder, with you close by slashing the faces off anyone who tries to get up.

That's how I held off an entire Khergit Army of about 720 with about 120 men.

Mainly luck, it was only up against 100-ish Kregits, and most of them fresh recruits, versus veterain units. It took a lot of luck.

1) If you use fully upgraded units, you can beat an army up to 3x your size and take any castle or city.
2) Agree.
3) My best battle was when I took Tevarin Castle (South of Praven, next to the ocean) as Swadian Rebels, and then proceeded to take on the entire Swadian army of 920 men with my 75.
