You have to register for the forum, then login and go to the profiler tab at the top  menu thing. Then you can add a character name, then select d20 3.5 from the drop down then submit. Make sure you save when you make changes. Also later you can add the sheets to a campaign thing then I can add stuff to your notes section and stuff.

So what books are allowed/not allowed? Races of Stone might have some thematic Dorfy stuff in it (I have it on a shelf). The first chapter is nothing but Dwarf stuff.

Alright, I've borrowed a copy of the 3.5 edition rules from a friend. I'll create the character later today.

seems like there should be a way to automate this.

I think we are starting at level 1
2700 gp to buy kit with
28 point embark attribute set
using the tangled web for character sheets
3.5 edition

that's all i know for sure

And Wizard/cleric/druid/sorceror are going to be PrCs, not actual classes.

Actually, don't count on me being in (I don't know if you were or not, but I was one of the earlier replies); someone else can have my spot.

PrCs?
Does that stand for Prestige classes?

Count me in as well if there's still room.  I was wondering just last night what a DnD campaign in DF universe would be like.

It does.  See DMs post bottom of last page.

So, regarding skill points...

If I want skill in say, butchery, that would be Profession (Butcher), right?  Can i expect such game-related skills to be more useful than they otherwise would be.

(Of course my Elf wants profession (Butcher), you don't think we just eat sentient creatures without taking the time to butcher them properly, do you?)

heh.

Is it just me, or does 2700 gold pieces to buy stuff seem a bit much?

I believe that's right off the expected wealth table of the DMG.

I believe there's a cap on individual item value too - i don't think you're technically allowed to choose an item worth more than half that, but given the low level its probably a good idea to ask since a +1 weapon or something isn't too unreasonable.
