A complete list of all jobs
« on: April 15, 2010, 10:23:52 am »

I'm trying to put together a full list of all jobs for a graphic set. I don't care about skills (ie. swimmer) unless a dwarf can become one as a profession. I literally want every single appearance possible for dwarves, elves, humans, goblins, and kobolds (don't care about loose creatures for now), and I want the small stuff too, like Manager and Alchemist and whatnot. This includes multi-professional type jobs, like how a good mechanic and siege engineer can become an engineer as an enveloping job.

I went through and took all the jobs I could get off of the skill and noble lists on the wiki, but I'm notably missing stuff for all non-dwarf professions. I'm also not sure exactly how graphic sets work in relation to appointed-noble positions - like, if I appoint an Arsenal Dwarf and I have a graphic for it, can I make that dwarf's sprite be an AD even if it was previously a farmer and had its highest skill in that?

Here's the list I've compilied so far. Anything anyone can suggest is appreciated.

Pretty sure the dwarves can wield all weapons these days, even if they can't make them.

I haven't checked since I'm not doing bugs until after the release (well, I'm doing bugs, in the additive sense).

Um that sounds maybe a bit ridicules but couldnt you consult the raws? Just seek for [PERMITTED_JOB: in the entity default.

Can a good enough skill in an improvised weapon (ie. blowgun) cause a dwarf to become a Blowgunner or Elite Blowgunner?

I appreciate the list but I do have all the basic professions so far. What I'm caught with are basically noble positions (both appointed and immigrant) and non-dwarf military/thieves/snatchers/diplomats/leadership etc. Basically I'd like to have a sprite for every position that can appear without modding to play as humans/elves/etc.

Assuming he somehow trained enough with the blowgun to raise the blowgunner skill above his other skills, the dwarf would indeed become a Blowgunner. But, that would require blowdarts... If he's just bashing people with the blowgun, I think it raises the sword skill instead.

For the noble positions, check entity_default for the tags like [POSITION:MONARCH].

EDIT: Also, here's some military/misc job tokens from the string dump:
