Low Rank is ridiculously easy in 3U. HR is definitely where the game starts. Apparently G rank is the true Monster Hunter starts here, but I'm not there yet.

Yeah, just got into high rank with the P. Ludroth. I had very few problems, but I also prepared really well for the change from Low Rank to High Rank.

Low Rank is too easy, I think. I get that they wanted to bring new players in better, but it's ludicrously easy much of the time. I really should play more MH3U, especially now that I'm FINALLY in high rank and I can start battling more of the new monsters and the subspecies.
Heh. Speak for yourself.

I'm literally still trying to beat that bird that calls stuff and has that fire jumping attack.

Yeah, I actually had a lot of trouble with qurupeco initially too, don't be afraid to attack him from behind, and look for his tells! It's usually not a good idea to commit to a full combo unless he's on the ground or you're sure you have enough time too. Act like if you get hit once you're dead!

Another note, you can put out fireblight by rolling on the ground several times or rolling in shallow water once. Took me a bit to find that out.

Yeah but he keeps healing himself so every time I get him down to limping he just flies away and when I find him again he keeps doing that healing dance.

I'm thinking my double blades are just really shitty against him and I need something that does more damage. Like a hammer or greatsword.

What type of Dual Swords are you using? How much are you relying on Demon mode?

The bone ones. I can't get any better ones at this stage. And I use demon mode all the time even though I don't really know what it does. AFAIK when it's maxed out you get one free short ranged blink when you dodge and you do a bit more damage.

So I apparently got someones guild card via streetpass while at an MtG event today, but when I go Start > Guild Card > Check, there aren't any there. How do I get to it?

Go to the port area, where you play multiplayer and stuff. Next to your storage in the marina, with the forge and the granny with the large backpack, there's a felyne sitting on a red rug or something, he has the guild card.

Yeah, this is definitely a game that gets easier the more you play it, don't feel too bad. :P

As a side note, I've set up cha cha and kayamba with ailment up, paralyze attack annnnddd something else, and it's pretty great. Basically a free shock trap for the purposes of beating things up.

So I fought the Brachydios a second time and got a Brachydios Gem. That's two gems in two hunts. I don't even want any of its stuff.

Currently I'm farming Zinogre for horns. I've killed two. Breaking its horns has an 84% chance of giving you at least one horn and a 13% chance of giving you a carapace. I've gotten a carapace both times.

Luckily, Zinogre is probably my favorite fight so far, so I'm cool with farming it.

On the brachydos note, is there a low rank brachydos? Or can I move on?

Nope, only high and G rank. Here's a cheat sheet!

LR+ Monsters: Arzuros, Agnaktor, Barioth, Barroth, Ceadeus (LR Only), Diablos, Duramboros, Gigginox, Gobul, Great Jaggi, Great Baggi, Great Wroggi, Lagiacrus, Lagombi, Nibelsnarf, Qurupeco, Rathalos, Rathian, Royal Ludroth, Uragaan, Volvidon
HR+ Monsters: Glacial Agnaktor, Alatreon, Sand Barioth, Jade Barroth, Brachydios, Deviljho, Black Diablos, Baleful Gigginox, Jhen Mohran, Ivory Lagiacrus, Nargacuga, Plesioth, Crimson Qurupeco, Azure Rathalos, Pink Rathian, Purple Ludroth, Steel Uragaan, Zinogre
GR Monsters: Dire Miralis, Goldbeard Ceadeus, Savage Deviljho, Rust Duramboros, Hallowed Jhen Mohran, Abyssal Lagiacrus, Green Nargacuga, Lucent Nargacuga, Green Plesioth, Silver Rathalos, Gold Rathian, Stygian Zinogre

Anyways, I got my Zinogre horn, which was nice. So I decided to progress a bit in single player. I barely killed the Black Diablos, and took care of the Azure Rathalos pretty easily. I've hunted all the new monsters at the last village quest rank, so I'm not sure what quest I need to trigger the Ivory Lagiacrus.

Fuck, it's the Pink Rathian and Azure Rathalos quest. Why did it have to be that one?

Its pretty easy if you got the zinogre light bowgun. Just bring dung bombs and thunder shot combines and shoot the wings.

That happens to be exactly what I made with my Zinogre horn, but I might just stick with my Barioth dual blades. The Rathalos is weaker to ice and he's the more annoying one.
