Ceadeus is known for being boring as all hell rather than actually difficult.

For the time being, I'm refusing to accept that argument if your only evidence is how they've handled Frontier. If they restrict MHO similarly then we'll talk.

Trust me, I am 100% for it coming out here. But with the way Monster Hunter has been handled over the last Forever. We won't see it...

INCORRECT. WE'RE GETTING THIS MOTHERFUCKER.

My advice is to not be excited about anything published by Tencent. You'd be setting yourself up for disappointment.

So, finally finished my nibelsnarf set and wow, speed sheath, speed eating, negate ice/mud (okay that one kind of sucks) AND enough slots to gem in speed eating+2 and gem out hunger? Yes.

It also looks like a modern military uniform so wear it and use bowguns.

The new names still haven't sunk in for me. I played MHP3 and its japanese names. Hapurubokka, for example, got renamed to Nibelsnarf. First time I saw the name I facedesked and hurt myself in my confusion. The new english names seem so weird after getting used to the (equally weird) japanese ones.

I will always defend nibelsnarf.

Nibble + Snarf, both relating to eating which it does! It's a little pokemoney admittantly but let's face it monster hunter is basically about fighting giant pokemon.

Heh... when I play MH3 I have no idea what is going on because I have no background in it and I can't be bothered to look anything up.

So every single fight is a complete surprise for me. It's quite fun. For example, learning that the flying shouting bird thing sets you on fire every time it jumps on you was quite the surprise.

It's even better with all these bizarre names as every time you guys talk about it I can never remember any of the names. So there's no spoilers at all.

That's actually a fantastic way to play. You get all the nerve-wracking anxiousness from fighting the Lagiacrus and Ceadeus fights. The first time I fought Jhen Mohran was just like wow, even if my hunting group lost. :(

It's also why it was a bit boring slugging it out with the low-rank monsters in MH3U, too, since I already played past HR60 in Tri. I JUST got into high-rank singleplayer, so hopefully it'll be a bit more exciting (although, to be honest, the Purple Ludroth didn't present much of a challenge...).

Yeah. I have no idea what those two things you mentioned are hahaha.

I actually run around asking the villagers for advice because they'll give tips on what the next big monster does. That's about the extent of my research.

Oh! That and trying to figure out the crude pictures inside the monster list guide book. I remember when they asked me to hunt a great Jaggi I was like... "I have no idea what that is but it sounds important". *looks in guide book*

Well, it looks like a regular Jaggi. Maybe it's a reskin.

NOPE.

Trying out different weapons is a good way to keep things fresh.

Fighting things for the first few times and figuring them out is really fun and has led to wonderful memories with the friends I've played the games with.

Umiman and others interested in keeping one of the craziest surprises, don't check the spoilers.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

More recently, I ran into a Deviljho while doing some fetch-type quest. It was the first time I ran into one, and did not have the equipment or supplies required for a hard hunt. That thing was awesomely overwhelming(I love crazy challenges), and I had so much fun that I kept hopelessly fighting it until only a minute remained on my fetch quest and then I went to end it. I'm only at the start of singleplayer(village) high rank right now and I can't wait to get to the nastier stuff.

What weapons do you guys prefer? I've been trying to get good at dual swords, but I take way more damage than I'd like. I love the bow, and recently fell in love with "counter-lancing" after I figured out, to my amazement, that that charged stab move is actually a counterattack.

I've been playing the Monster Hunter games since the first one on ps2, played all the games(even the japanese ones and Frontier) except the weird cat village one and the cellphone games,  and I've had lots of fun with them so far. It has to be the game series I spent the most time playing so far, and it is still racking up hours.

Yeah, Deviljho is CRAZY. It's horrifyingly scary to just see a gigantic monster appear during a simple Qurupeco hunt and then just ruin your day.
