Honestly, you'll want to hip shot against anything that's moving. Aiming is for when it stands still - for things that move frequently, you're probably only going to get one or two shots off whenever they stop moving. Don't worry, just keep shooting it and focus on its weak spots only when you can.

Also the CPP makes bowgun aiming way easier. I can't advertise this thing enough.

Just came here to say that actually, wahahaha.

Fighting the lagiacrus underwater in the flooded forest is just a horrible mess of a thing, any area that he's underwater he takes up most of the lane and he's constantly electrocuted so you get thunderblight and ahrgh agrhhrg hurggh

Just gonna say one thing: LANCE AND GUNLANCE. The gunlance has FIRE ELEMENT on its shots. Lances are some of the easiest and safest way to take on the underwater monsters. It's even worse when you get a fire element lance because almost all water monsters are weak to fire in some way or another. At least, the main ones are. Ludroth, Gobul, and Lagiacrus are all weak to fire.
Although, I think the Gobul is kinda weaker to thunder, but eh, he still has a minor weakness to fire.

The only problem is tailcutting because you're so immobile with the lance/gunlance. Also consider investing in Barroth armor with the lance because it gives Guard +1, which is so so very good for weapons that are dependent on blocking.

Also, holy shit, I just discovered the Volvidon gives Evasion AND Attack, which is just frankly incredible, because I'm a huge fan of Evasion. In fact, a lot of the higher armor sets have really good stats, like far better than the ones they had in Tri. Gigginox armor is way better with Earplugs and oh, nevermind, that's not Sharpness +1, that's speed sharpening. Gigginox armor is probably still bad in most cases. Actually, with Reload Spd/Status, it might be good for bowgun, but that's about all, I think. It'd be for specializing in status, but that's all. Which isn't bad, I guess.

You know what someone needs to do one day...
A Youtube Series or at least a video where the Hunter is... Steve Irwin. Just the general Idea of it makes me chuckle when you take some of Steve's earlier shows and put them into the Monster Hunter Universe...

Farming farming farming. I just farmed like three Ceadeus for this bowgun (it's a fucking gorgeous bowgun), now I just finished farming some Barioth for their tusks for it, and then I'll be farming Nibelsnarf for five of their claws.

After that's over, I need to farm four more nibelsnarf claws and a few Plesioth to upgrade my water blades. Then I'll clear out these few remaining quests and unlock the Zinogre, Steel Uragaan, and Sand Barioth so I can farm them too.

I can see that gigginox was just the beginning of a long string of horrible monsters. I'm glad to see the game has finally kicked off for me.

Also I've always enjoyed speed sharpening and have always hated roaring so I'll have to look into getting the gigginox armor!

I have a question I haven't been able to find a definitive answer to.
My sister's got a Japanese 3DS and I'm looking to get a North American one in a few months. What's the word on cross-region local multiplayer? If we both bought our respective 3DS versions, would we be able to play together?

I'm not sure on the question DeKaFu, I'm afraid.

In other news, I took out a rathian and qurupeco in a single free hunt with a greatsword (my first real use of the weapon class). I have arrived.

Now to get plowed over by some other horrible thing. I'm lookin at you Uraagan.

I hit HR3.

For anyone not there yet, don't worry about the Rathian/Rathalos urgent quest. It's still a low rank quest. I know every other urgent in the game is the level of the rank you're about to enter, but this one is different for some reason.

Just got to the point where I'll be farming my rathian plate. Longsword seems to be the best for cutting that tail of his. At least I have the most luck with it.

Longsword and Greatsword really are some of the best weapons for cutting tails. I recently got lucky and picked up a GS rustshard, so I'll be using that for quite a while. Which is good, because right now, I'm focused around bows, hunting horns, and gunlance, although I also picked up Dual Swords when I realized I could make the Lagi dual swords and there was an thunder element gap in my weapon repertoire.

So much love for the longsword right now. Literally just unlocked the plains and it's mix of reach, mobility and power are perfect for bringing down the big shell-faced things (totally didn't forget their names half way through writing this post)

I am done farming Nibelsnarfs. Now to Plesioth, then Zinogre. Of course, there's a fucking high rank Duramboros sitting between me and that Zinogre, but I think I can take it.

I hope.
