I'm reacquanting myself with the original on a PS2. Oh dear god, the nostalgia.

Aaand I just realized that I maaay have traded the game in. Damn. I'm actually kinda surprised at myself there considering Monster Hunter is one of my favorite games but it may have something to do with frustration at being unable to progress in the online quests because I could never find people on the same quests as me.

While I'd probably go ahead and pick up another copy I'm hesitant because (other than money) I'd been considering trading in my Wii after I finished Skyward Sword as I hardly ever use it. Hrm...

Keep the Wii. Get Monster Hunter. Never play anything besides DF and MH.

Or, you know, do whatever. That is cool too.  :P

Trading in is hardly worth it anyways.  $250 console trades in for $10 or something.

If you've already got a Wii, picking up a used copy of MH3 is well worth it.  Just go low-key, find a game resale shop, like there used to be a place in town called Replays that would sell these types of games for $3 each.  Replays also had a LOT of like SNES and N64 games that Gamestop would never touch.  Basically the GoG of physical media.

Pity there's nothing but Gamestops around here and for the price of the game and shipping on Amazon is nearly the same as if I went to Gamestop as well. And from what I can tell the trade in value of a Wii is about $70 if not less anyway it seems, probably not worth it.

I'll have to see if my old usb keyboard/mouse would work on my Wii.

edit: Well what do ya know, the keyboard does work despite having a 2nd plug with the keyboard image on it. I guess I'll go ahead and pick up another copy after then methinks. Might not be on much today since I've got a D&D game at 4:30 PM PST. Would you guys prefer I use my current character (don't recall what HR he is) or start a new one?

It hardly matters.  So long as you're less than 30 then you can join up with us.  Although if you're this out of practice, then a new character may not be a bad idea.

Well my old one is HR 20 so should be good to go. Anyone on right now and if so which room?

edit: Right now I'm at Rookies 2, City Gate 13, City 10. ID NZ1KWV

Oh god I forgot how horrid the text size is in this game...

Unrelated to any current multiplayer discussion, I just found that you can catch multiple fish with one piece of bait. Now that I'm up to *** village quests (switch axe is great, by the way), I began working on the backlog of * and ** quests. Enter quest with three pieces of goldenfish bait, leave with five fish.

Is there any way to know when the next sandstorm's going to happen online?

What exactly is the sandstorm?  Is that the giant sand dragon?

Incidentally I want to procure a set of Jhen Mohran armor, so that would be wonderful.

All this talk of murdering Laggy and here I am feeling great for taking down a Royal Ludroth while getting carted a mere once. I clearly need to step up my game.

I still really hate fighting Lagiacrus underwater, but it's definitely easier online with a group that knows what it is doing than solo.
Now I just need the Barioth parts and I can continue upgrading my gear.

Like all monsters, he gets like three times harder the second he jumps in the water. On land Royal Ludroth is a pansy.

I'm happy that I finally managed to take down the Baroth and then immediately defeated the Gobul in one try.
