I think the Wii-style controller appealed to them, even though they added the controller :I

My day was just made.

Where'd you find that information?

Wait the mmo is already done, damn Frontier.
Psp version brings back all the weapons that were cut out.

Oh, this is just a case of me not paying attention, but Tri on PSP has NO INFRASTRUCTURE MODE and there is no english version of Frontier that I know of. The Original Monster Hunter on PS2 had its servers taken down no more than one month after I bought it (couple years ago). DAMN YOU, CAPCOM.

I guess I could try out Xlink Kai...
Damn, I hope people still actually play it.

I use Kai. Haven't played MHFU for a while, though, despite the temptation to reinstall it ever looming over me.

Argh! Why does almost everyone in high rank use a switch-axe?! Seriously!

And then there are the HR31-40 people who keep joining a team full of HR40+ hunters when I seriously want to go fight the Barioth or Lagiacrus. I've gained like 4 ranks and I still haven't fought the Lagiacrus, Uragaan, or Agnaktor. I've only fought the Great Baggi twice and one was just me taking him solo.

EDIT: Just had my first team full of lancers. It was absolutely magical. We did the R. Ludroth, Lagiacrus, and Gobul quest. We smashed up the R. Ludroth in less than 5 minutes, obliterated the Lagiacrus without any casualties and without using many healing items either, then we tore the Gobul apart. On all three monsters, we broke all pieces of the monster (Except for maybe the shell on the Lagiacrus. I don't know if it can be broken.) Keep in mind also that these were High Rank monsters, so they're tougher.

Back in my day there were only nine hunter ranks.

Also, get off my lawn.

Also, get off my lawn.

Back in my day there were twenty hunter ranks.

Also I think your lawn is built on my lawn.

EDIT: Just had my first team full of lancers. It was absolutely magical.

Lancing is really great in this game, mostly thanks to the introduction of the counter and guard-advance moves. It used to be that lancing was more of a stationary battle, but
now they're both mobile and defensive, making it great for almost any monster - with notable exceptions being Rathalos and Rathian, due to their flight and quicker movements.

On all three monsters, we broke all pieces of the monster (Except for maybe the shell on the Lagiacrus. I don't know if it can be broken.)

Are you talking about the Lagiacrus's back? If you hit his side with enough upward lance attacks it will eventually break - I think it looks like the spikes crack off. However I find it's really hard to do consistently, but when you do break the back, it removes some of its electrical abilities - or at least weakens them.

Yeah. Guard-advance is really useful in stamina consumption. To be honest, I use guard-advancing more often than counter, simply because counter absorbs stamina like a sponge.

And the most annoying thing I've found about the Rathian/Rathalos is the wind pressure. So essentially, flight, yeah. Wind pressure is severely annoying to a lancer.

As to the Lagiacrus's back, I could've sworn I'd broken it sometimes, but I really couldn't tell all that well.

I have a new respect for long swords. I killed my first Gobul with the first one you can make, with no deaths.
I got the first LS because it let me make it in the city, because I was on 2* online quests.
Now I have to repel the Lagiacrus with it. Is repelling any different from hunting, only it doesn't die?

Honestly? Longswords aren't bad in offline. The Rathalos longsword tears the offline Lagiacrus to pieces. In online is where they get annoying. They trip other players a LOT, especially lancers and SnS-users. (but there aren't that many of THEM anyway, I guess. :I) Lancers will hate you if you spam the spirit technique.

I'd still like more lance or SnS users. Switch-axe and longsword are all fine and fun, but I'm getting irritated with all the longsword users who rush in front of the Rathian tail-somersault.

Of course, I still don't have the Fearsome Maw I'd like to have for my Gigginox hat, but 14% looks much more promising than the odds on the Rathian.

That's what youuuuuu think! ::)

And it took me like 20 offline rathians or so before I finally got a plate from the Double Trouble offline quest. That quest would never have been completable without my rustshard GS.

As for me... maybe I should take up GS again. I have a +5 Crit Draw charm and a pair of Diablos vambraces, which also give +5 Crit Draw as well as a High Sieglinde, I think. Or just a regular Sieglinde. But a High Sieglinde would be easy enough to acquire.

EDIT: Fearsome maws probably aren't as hard to get as they were for me. I probably was doing it wrong/am just terribly unlucky with maws and maws alone. For some reason, I get Rathian/Rathalos rubies with ease. In fact, the first time I fought a High Rank Lagiacrus, I got a Lagia Sapphire (Just what I needed for Ancientshard lance!) from its tail on the first try. Incidentally, my team also failed that quest. Oh, and I can never get Bird Wyvern Gems either. So no high-rank sleep SnS just yet.
