I wasn't aware that there are "servers". I'd assume it's cross-region though.
Also, I need to set up my Wii again, since we got a new router. Also, my first sighting of the Lagiacrus was ****ing scary.

How exactly does the player search work? how expansive is it? is it just your server/gate, or is it across all servers in the category? (as in Rookie, Expert, Open, Recruiting.)

Not sure yet. I know that caps count in names and that it probably goes across the whole server. I suspect it searches all the servers.

Why not just try it?
Also, my router broke, and I got it working again now. I''ll set up whatever online stuff I need to tomorrow. Or later. Probably tomorrow.

Is there anyway of seeing your friend code thing when you're allready in-game? Or do you have to quit out to the mode select screen to display it?

edit-- Nevermind, figured it out.

I'm still deciding if I like either this or Demon's Souls more.
Both are really cool and fun, but I found D'S easier to get into actually.

Currently I'm maybe six or so missions in and using sword and shield style.
Screw blocking, I just roll.

Both games are great.  And yea... MH has a bigger learning curve.

It's not the learning curve it's the more gradual slope they make you take into the game.
You can't jump in, you have to finish all the newbie missions before you get to anything really interesting.

And seriously, I f***ing hate Jaggi's. Endlessly spawning enemies annoy me.

Not so bad. They are easy to just ignore in any major hunt and if you need to gather, just break out the torch and they won't bother you.

BTW the search does go across all servers.

Yes that torch is quite useful, pity the light radius isn't larger in the caves. Also endlessly spawning enemies are good for racking up points for that village thing, though once large creatures start appearing the small ones aren't needed anymore.

Endlessly spawning enemies aren't anywhere near as annoying as rapidly-decaying corpses. Seriously, the game is about hunting monsters. If you want me to kill things and use their corpses to make stuff... DON'T have their corpses decay before I'm done fighting! >_<

That is why I stopped trying for the various -prey armors, not worth it when you can only loot the last one in a group if you're lucky.
