Apceros egg and powderstone missions generally aren't worth it.

The apceros egg missions doesn't give anything particularly unique aside from egg tickets, which you can get from other easier egg missions.

Finishing "Handle with Care" solo required me to tear apart the Gravios, Clear several areas, and run through an unclearable area; Area 4 had infinitely spawning ioprey and Area 6 had infinitely spawning bullfangos. All under 50 minutes.

The only particularly unique thing I got was ruststones, but considering you can mine those at HR13+ and I was already running around with a Grayburg Javelin... It was a disappointment (And OH GOD THE EARTH CRYSTALS.)

GS blocks might stop Kut-ku and Gypceros breath, but a Rathalos fireball will just blow you away. And don't even think about trying to block the uber freaking uber beam laser of freaking uber death... uber at all.

I guess the guard system must've been changed pretty heavily between MH1 and MHF2 then, since I'm sure I've blocked a fireball with a GS before. Just can't remember which game.

As I mentioned, there's a skill in MHF2 - "Guard Inc/Guard Up" (which I (ab)use) which lets you block pretty much anything in the game - including the death laser.

... man, all this talk makes me want to get a new armor in MHFU...

At least Gravios would just pretend to be a rock most of the time if you didn't tick him off, whereas Gypceros would go looking for trouble...

You're thinking of Basarios.
Gravios would pretend to be a death laser.

It was a pretty convincing imitation.

You're awesome.

Don't mean to hijack the thread with questions, but what should I upgrade my Dragon Agito to, Golem Sword or Redwing?  Golem Sword is super-dull, but I've heard it has good upgrades.  Redwing is sharp and has fire, but takes Rathalos parts, and I haven't even killed a Gypceros yet.

To go from golem blade to golem blade+ you'll need to take down one of the blos.

I'd say switch to a different weapon line or try another weapon type.

If you manage to nab a lightcrystal from a Gypceros (Destroy it's head flasher thingy and you should get one out of the rewards), the bone blade line ends with the great serpent blade, which is pretty decent considering the ease of getting its materials.

Math turns up:
To create a Great Serpentblade from scratch requires a total of:

21 Small Monster Bones
9 Velocidrome Claws
10 Velociprey Scales
2 Medium Monster Bones
1 Lightcrystal
11865z

It's got the same attack and MUCH better sharpness than the Golem Blade, but you might have to backtrack a bit to get the velocidrome claws; and getting the lightcrystal from the gypceros might prove difficult.

I got two Lightcrystals from one Gypceros, without breaking its head, also known as a threesome with Fortune and Chance.

Are you in MH1 or MH2 (or one of its expansions), Cthulhu? I can give advice but none of it is relevant to MH1 :c

You lucky bastard.
I had to kill the damn thing 4 times before I even got one.

Reminds me of the time where I hunted the monoblos 17 times without getting its heart. Then my sister goes in and gets it on her first goddamn run.

If you do decide to get a great serpentblade, it should hold you until you decide to start hunting the gravios or bloses (blosi?).

Hee. I got the heart the first time I killed it too.
'Course, took me about 5 tries to actually kill it. I'd get to 49.5 minutes and it still wouldn't be dead so I'd abandon. :/

Also yeah, try not to get stuck with a bad sharpness weapon at any point. Weapon bouncing off with every other hit = very not fun.

Why did you go with greatswords, if you don't mind me asking? They're the one weapon line (besides dual swords) I never really saw the advantage to. :/
SnS had running while drawn + dodging + blocking but really bad damage.
Hammers had running while drawn + dodging + good damage but couldn't cut off tails or block.
Lances had awful mobility but epic blocking and epic damage.
GS had awful mobility and attack speed but...good damage? Snazzy looks? ???

I don't know who you're asking, but I'll give my answer...
  • Good damage and sharpness in the early game
  • Ability to both block attacks and roll during attacks
  • Slightly less annoying upgrade requirements
  • The bad mobility and attack speed are easily rectified if you focus on unsheathing attacks, which are powerful and fast, and you can very quickly roll away from them to the side if you need to.
  • Also, if you're doing a long combo with GS, some small attacks - wind pressure, for example - won't interrupt your attacks - giving you free hits on landing wyverns

Goddamn monoblos hearts.
Goddamn sharpness.

I'm so very happy I have an end-of-the-line weapon in MHFU (for now).

Horizontal, uppercut, horizontal, uppercut.  It's faster than you think, and it really wrecks wyverns if you've got green sharpness.

And yeah, rolling cancels most of the recovery time, which makes greatswords pretty awesome.

I got the Great Serpentblade last night, it's awesome but retarded looking.  When they said "Serpent Motif," I thought it would be a bone sword with a serpent carved in it.  Turns out it's made of Velociprey scales and made to look like a snake.  Dumbest weapon ever.

Speaking of awesome and retarded looking, my sister had the most amazing outfit on MH1.

Head: Lobster or Hornet
Mail: Monoblos
Arms: Kut-ku
Skirt thing: Rathian
Legs: Gypceros

Quick reconstruction:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
She was a lance-user, so picture that barreling towards you with a tower shield and giant telescoping lance.

This is how a wyvern learns fear.

Heh, like some kind of bizarre exotic bird.

Are there more towns than the first one in MH1?  I've only been playing like three or four days and I'm already on the first 5 star urgent quest, which is to kill a Rathalos.  I still haven't seen Plesioths, Rathians, foobloses, and I'm sure plenty of other awesome monsters.  I've also heard these games have 100+ quests, and I know I haven't done that much.
