I'm European?
And I'm willing to play.

But heh.. I'm probably waay bellow you.
I just finished my last 2 Star quest, and I'm starting on the 3 Star quests now.
I use a Hammer now too. Or my Bowgun. Depends.

It seems like it might be possible to bypass the region locking - it appears as if it's console or disk fixed, based on five minutes of research.

Also, it's kind of ridiculously amusing to go online and lance in 3* online gear in the early 2* online quests - watching everyone around get trounced and just kind of shrugging and chugging megapots as they all scatter.

Ahh.. Ohh god, what am I using?
I have four entirely different sets of Gear.

-Hunting/General, decent all around stats, Psychic 15, and longsight. Sword and Shield, nothing special there.
-Rhenopolas gear! MASSIVE armor for my level, I use a hammer with this and smash shizzle up.
-Bowgun Gear, haven't used this in a while, it's a mish mash of all my swimming hear and stuff that does't hurt rangers too much. I don't really like this much.
-Lance stuff, the full Jaggi set. And a big lance. Nothing else to it.

But I keep cycling through these.
I don't know which one to use.
Ahh!

Ahh!

Code is PF161D
Name is Meydra.
Just started doing 3 Star quests.

I have a good selection of weapons at my disposal.
Baggi set for GS, LS and Hammes (also have the diablo set, but I don't like it).
Ratahlos set for SA (which I am currently using).
Currently farming Agnaktor for my lancing set, but he refuses to drop beaks :(
Also have some bowguns, but they are near useless, when you play with random people.

I also have a keyboard and Wii Speak (although the latter one isn't very usefull, because of its terrible quality).

Be a hunter. Use all of them. Hunting a queropeco? Wear his head as a hat. Slaying ludroth? Wear their mane as a kilt/skirt.

It's not like it costs you anything to leave them in your item box - and you'll probably end up with an obscene amount of money if you decide to go for another armour set, thanks to the RNG. Personally I have 6 full armor sets in my box, regularly using 5 of them.

Mindmaker - are you actually breaking his beak when you fight him? (Probably yes, if so, just keep trying)

How do people generally break Gobul's lantern? :/
The only one I ever got was when I paired up with a gunner who spent the first 20 minutes aiming solely at the lantern. My sister's using a lance and trying to get one offline, now. I suggested putting him to sleep and planting large bombs around it, but I've never tried that on Gobul myself.

Sleep is an awesome element by the way. I never actually used it in 1 because it sounded useless, but being able to heal and sharpen and set off some bombs in the middle of a fight is great. I'd never be able to break the horns off anything without it.

Well, I'm breaking of the lava, which is enough, if you can trust gamefaqs.
From what I've observed, it cannot be broken any further.

Normally fishing him out, then using bombs, while he is incapacitated and then hitting him a few times with a weapon that has a good range (managed to do it with longsword, greatsword and switchaxe that far) should do.
Lances should work as well.
You can hit it with every weapon, while he is in water.
Works great if you can get of flashbombs or sonicbombs.

When I was farming Gobul offline for spear bits, I used my lance mostly. The big strat is staying either to his front and doing up-poke or staying on top of him and doing down or forward pokes onto it. It really didn't take that much damage to shear it off. But it took a good while to figure out how to do it quickly.

Mindmaker, yea, that's all you need to do. Just you'll have a 100% chance to get unlucky - this is Monster Hunter, after all. Should've heard me swearing at the lack of Agnaktor claws...

I gave up on farming him singleplayer.
When I'm online at least I get rank when I kill him for the 12th time >.>

Glorious, I am apparently a "Hunter" by Logical's standards.
Every time I go to kill a Great Jaggi, I make sure I dress up as his dead, skinned comrades.
Whee.

This is how monsters learn fear. Someone dressed in the skin of their former mate assaults them with a giant *weapon name*, traps them in a pit and bombards them with drugs - then they wake up in an arena, surrounded by cheering people, where more people dressed in their skin attack them for sport.

Monster Hunter - pretty drat terrifying when you really get down to it!
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

But then again there are monsters so big they can destroy entire towns just by walking through them... Suddenly, cruelty to animals doesn't seem like such a big deal in this fantasy world.

By the time that comes out, MH3 will have passed from everyone's memories. Comes out in Japan supposedly 12/1. Give it another month or two to get everywhere else.

I must say, MHFU was quite fun and I'll be waiting for the release of 3.
