One more thing about this game.

Is theorycrafting needed to be effective?
Or can you as easily figure out stuff for yourself? (monster weaknesses, combinations etc.)

Because it would be nice to play a online game for once, without reading up on dozens of guides.

You can without knowing the weaknesses/strengths.
Use normal damage weapons, as a kill-all approach, since picking an element... you may find yourself fighting something strong against your chosen element.

Everything else is pretty much learned via fighting experience.  There is a huge difference between just reading a guide and actually fighting/observing the enemy.
If anything, some fighting experience should be had before reading a guide for better effect, if you are inclined.

The weaknesses tend to be pretty common sense.

"Hey, I bet this water monster is weak to fire or lightning!"

My quick search turned up nothing, so I might as well ask.

Favorite weapon? Half a year ago, I was all about greatswords, hammers, and gunlances. I'm trying to spread out a bit now, though ranged still looks beyond my ability. Right now, I'm going longsword.

I'm trying for longsword, and dabbling in lance.

For all monster hunting needs you can check this out. Otherwise you can find out a monsters weakness by looking at the armor you can make from it, the armor's weakness is it's weakness. And I will note that elemental weaknesses can take you by surprise, like one monster's damage dealing element is dragon (well supposedly) but at the same time its weak to it which is odd. Not to mention a surprising number of monsters are weak to fire.

All Dragon things are weak to Dragon Element, which I suppose makes sense 'cause what better to kill a dragon with than with a dragon?

The first thing I saw when I opened up the first link was an anime breast being grabbed. Then the second link had an anime girl with a fully erect penis staring straight at me.

Why u play me like this, bro
