maybe, but the barroth armour is pretty good, it has the highest defense and also has thunder. I just keep getting clipped when reloading, and it is hard to hit his thin, long body..and underwater just kinds sucks, when he is on shore I rock him

When on land he's a pushover, dodging underwater is a little fudgy though which sucks.

If you haven't already, then upgrade your armor. Every little bit helps. I don't know much about bowguns, but being in the water seems like it sucks even more. Stock up on that water ammo?

EDIT: Almost forgot... use some traps. pitfall are easier to make, so they are preferable, but the shock trap is nice to bring along too if you can. You get ALOT of easy hits and it will help you at least complete the quest and get enough loot for a gun upgrade or something.

oh yeah armor is max'd for now, without volcano mats. I have yet to try traps, good idea. The sub ammo is a no go, the gun I am using is geared for fire shells and can not fit the underwater ammo. The gun itself is an issue as it is a heavy mother, makes me move slower, but it is the only sensible set, otherwise I would have to reload flamming after every shot, which sucks. At any rate, will give traps a go

Don't bother using shock traps on him in the water (out of the water not sure) it only lasts a few seconds, not enough to get in position to even throw two traqs at him.

I lost my voice yesterday from yelling at this game.
Killing a Great Jaggi with the beginner knife and using Wiimote controls is worse than fighting Maneater from Demon's Souls.
And that says alot.

We fought for around half an hour (Damn bastard kept running away); I used all my healing stamina, and sharpening items, and he killed me three times.
Yes, I suck at this game.

Though now that I bought a switch-axe things might be different.

So is there any particular reason you were using the Hunter's Knife against it?

At the time there was nothing better to use.

I'm getting this game as soon as I'm done with my graduation exams.
Already have 2 friends willing to start with me.

Is it possible to play as a 3 man group, or do you necessarily need the 4th person?

you sould not have any problems with monsters as a three member party, at least up to HR 16 which is what I am at, no idea about later in the game

I just did the kill mission for Lagiacrus. 45 minutes and it hadn't even limped. it's bullshit that to get a better longsword than the one i have now i have to get past this mission. I'm just gonna go online and get better crap, then try this again.

Looking forward to playing this...

...in six months or so when the PSP version comes out. I'm still stuck with MHFU. Any major differences between MH2 and MH3?
