I'm guessing this is what's caused the sudden flurry of activity, but Overgrowth is coming to/is on Steam. And it's discounted for once!

If you get it from their site you get their other games for free (Reciever, low light combat)
Reciever is a fun little tech demo, and as sort of a gun enthusiast I enjoyed it =p

If you get it on their site you'll likely get all their experiments and 7DRL projects and such for the foreseeable future.

I actually didn't feel like i was wasting my life when i was reading this comic. http://www.wolfire.com/comic#1. The latest video is in relation to it. My only concern now is crossing the divide between the story and the game.

Ooh, a thread for this! I bought it back in 2008 but have lost track since. How's it coming along?

Holy crap, those combat videos are amazing. How have I not paid attention to this before?!
Not going to buy it as it is now, but I'm definitely gonna follow it and add it to my wishlist.

* Sirus makes a gesture and the thread's corpse begins to move!

New update! Looks like expanded AI, especially when it comes to stealth-related matters. Enemies will no longer instantly notice you, and upon spotting dead bodies will enter a search mode to try and find the player. Also some rudimentary companion AI that will follow the player around.

You know what's fun? Spear catch. Play with a buddy and one spear on the map. Throw it back and forth, catching with counters, until someone messes up and gets skewered.

I really hope Overgrowth makes it to a proper release one day. I've played a few alphas and it has great potential.

Plus one if my ex girlfriends is a real rabbit type person, with a gazzilion stuffed toys and ornaments of them. It'd make for a funny, if slightly twisted gift for her :)

I really don't get this "it is still in alpha and therefore not worth paying for/playing" mindset. There's a lot there as it is, and I can only imagine how much the mapping and modding scenes will leap forward with the stealth and companion improvements.

Already it has everything needed to recreate Lugaru, minus wall-jump-kicks.

Because what is in the game RIGHT NOW mostly just feels like a sample rather then a full serving.

When Starbound feels like a more complete game... you know how early in development you are.

Though yeah there are more then enough tools for someone to make a decent game with it...

Again, it has all the features necessary to recreate the campaign of Lugaru, minus a single move. While there is no official campaign yet, there are already a few fan ones, and there are enough weapons and official maps already for a decent fighting game.

Ok... so where is the fan recreation of Lugaru?

If you want to go down this route of debate, prove there is already enough fan content in not just bulk but quality.

Mind you I am not a total jerk... >_< what I am saying is that... No the fan content is not diverse or of a quality great enough to justify the cost. sure there are enough tools to recreate Lugaru but there isn't a fan recreation of Lugaru.

I am still waiting for them to patch the exploits in the combat system... because right now everyone is intentionally avoiding moves because they will pretty much finish any enemy off so long as they don't swarm you in huge numbers.
