Although the levels so far are more just test levels and probably won't be in the story mode.

Actually, there's a comic on the Wolfire website detailing some of the story of Overgrowth. It has desert scenes and the like that are somewhat similar to the desert map shown on some of the Alpha videos. They may be test levels just now, but I would assume that the level of detail on the test maps indicates that they'll probably be edited a bit more to become actual levels. The terrain doesn't use a square mesh. It seems like it's modeled, rather.

I think there was stuff about terrain meshes in one of the alpha videos, or maybe the art ones.

New alpha video today, giving us a glimpse of the pathfinding used. Honestly, it looks good; the AI is able to wall-run and stuff just like the player, and doesn't get caught up on irregularly-shaped objects.

Newest video features more pathfinding experimentation and some changes to thrown weapons - mostly them making a squishy noise when pulled out of a rabbit's corpse.

I already knew about this, I found out about it when researching Lugaru after playing it. I was playing it because of the Humble Indie bundle. I pre-ordered it like a year ago or something.

  • Fencing with one-handed swords
  • Rabbits getting sliced up mafia-style by knives
  • Embedded weapons affecting how a rabbit's ragdoll moves (throw a sword in someone's chest, and they won't simply lie flat on their stomach)

I'm fairly certain that has been in the game for a while now as I distinctly remember seeing exactly that in an Update Overview video a few months ago.

I'm fairly certain that has been in the game for a while now as I distinctly remember seeing exactly that in an Update Overview video a few months ago.

It's still amazing to see. So much attention to detail in the game.
