Cats are mostly average because they honestly don't know what to do with them.

Which I find sad actually since they are supposed to be sort of the nobility... and there is so much they COULD do from that angle.

Weird, of all the animals the have listed, cats are the most agile and capable of amazing physical feats.

The fighting is fast enough as it is, though.

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

It probably comes from the fact that Rabbits are already fulfilling that role. So what is left for Cats to do agility wise?

Maybe cats could have the best technology.  Right now most of the weapons are dog weapons

Dogs are the best weapon users.

If you want to speak about advantages cats have storywise it would obviously be that many of them are nobility. But that doesn't equate to gameplay.

Maybe rabbits could be the jumping/kicking guys, sort of tae kwon do stuff, and cats are more agile and have the best senses and reflexes.  Catching knives you throw behind them from stealth, dodging like they're in the matrix, that stuff.

I'm pretty sure rats are more agile than cats.

Rats could be more stealth centered while cats specialize in matrix type stuff like cthullu said, stuff like wall running, fighting with weapons, maybe being able to use their claws to climb walls?

The weapons they made for rats (ninja-to, shurikens, and such) suggest rats are the stealth guys.

I actually think it'd make more sense the other way around (if at all). Like I know the knee-jerk reaction would be to make rats the stealth guys since they're the smallest, but I think their natural attributes would suggest otherwise.

Cats are really quiet and light for their size. And when hunting for rodents in-doors, they need to sneak up a bit. Otherwise the rodent may run off behind some cubboards or something where the cat can't reach them.

Also, it's rats that have tails about the length of their bodies (which would help in jumping and balance). And they fidget around all the time like they operate on a higher frequency. They're not exactly known as hunters either (like I don't think they'd kill anything other than insects), so they normally wouldn't have much use for stealth in the "sneak up and stab you" sense. Unless the rats in this universe really like meat or something.

Well, rats will kill other rats, and other field mammals in general. Such as mouses, and rabbits.

Gah. No new alpha footage this week; apparently one of the devs came down with something. Next week, hopefully!

While I like the game dev logs, I find the art updates to be pretty neat overall. I'm also a little surprised that he seem to be the level designer or at least playing as the level designer.

Well, Wolfire isn't really a huge company. I don't think they have a designated level designer and since Aubrey obviously knows a thing or two about level design, he's just the one who does it.
Although the levels so far are more just test levels and probably won't be in the story mode.
