dye options
« on: November 22, 2006, 01:57:00 pm »

dwarf,mode... under global options.. we have... use any cloth, dyed cloth only..

how about... use non dyed cloth only?

obviously... it would be good to expand dyeing to dye silk or dye plant (be it thread or cloth) too...

so i can have non dyed pigtail/rope weed bags... (to hold the dye!) leaving the dyes for my clothes.. for example..

(no idea if it appears under manager options though..)

--------
ps.. (dimple cup) dyed pigtail bags are blue... so how come dyed pigtail rope is white?

Dyed pigtail ropes are white?  That's not good.

Making nuanced dyeing options is like nuanced item improvements in general...  there needs to be a system for it.  It seems like one of the more annoying hassles now is having gem encrusted mechanisms instead of the things you actually want to improve.

they were... but now they aren't.. they are in the right color in the latest version (not sure what happened there!)

biggest problem i've got with dyeing at the moment... is that i think i don't have enough specialised haulers. so i have a ton of dye plants sitting around on food pile.. waiting to be put into barrels (not so bad) plenty of bags somewhere (dye shop usually or in the barrels holding seeds!) but not "available" for mills to use...

i suppose i can destroy all bag piles (... maybe can leave sandbag piles?) it's just that i have the sand gathering place at 1 end of the fortress (left side of river) along with all the food shops... and a magma glass forge all the way on the other side!)

guess i'll train a few more immigrants to just haul when they arrive next)

Maybe it was winter?  Things outside turn white in winter, from the snow.
