You'll have to confront them eventually, but at least if you smooth and carve it into fortifications before digging it out you will have some warning.

Safest way really is to just wall off the area with constructed walls, dig a little, then if the miner is still alive tear down the wall to get the adamantine, seal him up again, and dig a little more.

You of course still get the FPS hit, but you can then get your army there and waiting.

Also, bravo. That is an incredibly tall pipe of <shiny>.
Once i had a 163zlevel-high spike that becomes tube (e.g. open into slade cavern) only in 2 or 3 lowest zlevels.
So there were about 3000 adamantine boulders.

You lucky bastard.

All wounds will suddenly be sutured by adamantine.

For those of us who have FPS as a precious commodity losing it is rather dangerous to the whole keeping playing thing.

Personally I will have a little better supply in the coming weeks whenever the hell my laptops's motherboard gets replaced and it is returned to me.
