You guys are assuming there will be mutons, chryssalids, and the like.  None of the X-Com games have shared aliens, there's no reason to believe this one will.  I'm betting it'll be X-Com in name only, but I'm not going to hate it before I know anything about it.

Actually, Interceptor and Enforcer both used the Original X-Com aliens. Apocalypse at least acknowledged the existence of Sectoids through the mutant alliance and the psi-strong mutants you could recruit. The only game which could be argued didn't use the original aliens at all is TFTD, and there were paper suppliments which went along with the game that explained some stuff, and at the very least, the Aquatoids were said to be an evolutionary cousin of the Sectoid.

Prediction:

It will come out, and critics will love it.  Several people here will buy it, the rest will pirate.  All will play through it at least once, probably more than once, complaining the whole way.

Wrong, I don't plan to play it at all if it ends up being what I"m expecting. Even if I do play it I don't see myself finishing the game. Critics might love it, but I have my doubts about that. Even in today's corrupt world of game reviews, there are critics out there who still have love for the classics. On the other hand there are plenty of critics out there who don't give a shit about anything but a pay check and will gladly hand out 9's and 10's for a few extra bucks.

Spoiler: You'll love this part. (click to show/hide)

And there's your X-COM First Person Shooter prototype.  Just try and tell me that wouldn't be awesome.

I don't think I quite liked this setup from way back in F.A.K.K.2, because you had to right-click to use the weapon in your right hand. Otherwise, I see dual-wielding autocannons working out VERY well.

Now what???
Lulz

Here's to hoping it holds up.
At this point, I'd prefer to give my money to those guys.

Well, guess I'd at best rent the FPS on the 360... I've done worse.  Rent a game, play 10-30 minutes... stop and never play it again.  Basically what I did with Bioshock...

Is it wrong that my first thought at that picture was to wonder why the grenade wasn't armed to blow as soon as the guy died so he couldn't turn into another chryssalid?
