One of my older 40d forts i made a few full sets of armour and weapons, had at least some masterwork of each. Came back in adventure mode after storing them all in lead bins and then had some fun walking around killing stuff. died of something in the end, i thing, but i can't recall what.

It seems that addy weapons suck. These adamantine bolts are just bouncing off people, even humans! I get a message they dent the skin and not much else.

I bet its because adamantine is feather light. It doesn't have the mass to do any damange. Now where did I put that depleted uranium....

I make roads out of it.  I pity those who use filthy gold to pave their streets.

What about platinum?

Addy is for edged melee weapons. It's weight (or lack thereof) makes it suck for hammers and maces.

I tried fighting a demon with an addy shortword. All it could do was bruise him and it kept glancing off his clothing which was simple leather. So I went and looted a bronze longsword off a nearby shop and it took him out in the first hit...

I guess weight is still a major factor for piercing and cutting.

This makes me want to mod a metal in the game that requires 10 trips to the forge to create, along with lots of pitchblende, but has 2.5 times the mass of steel...

Well, trojan ones are rubber.

Dorfs, of course, distrust those silly alchemists with their useless and blood-spreading invention of soap.  So obviously the only dorfs to trust in regards to unmentionables are the metal-crafters.

aren't dwarven condoms not getting married? the only way someone getting knock up is if they use animal spore transplants and that's only in 40d.

what I did with my first ada is well made a statue which ended up being a roach statue.

Furniture for the haulers to keep them happy.

What? You think I would give it to the annoying and demanding nobles?!

Also I have little use for a military due to magma, so no need for armor.

... Pressurized Magma cannon? Those are my favorite. :D

By ARMOK they are fun!
By using a magma cannon and a water cannon you can cast obsidian under high pressure AND slay intruders with just the pull of a lever.

Can you make a water cannon and a magma cannon that would collide in mid air, and rain cast obsidian down on the folks below?

I need to try that.

I found that adamantine has the tag "sharpenable" on it now, so when I told my crafter to make rock swords, he grabbed a chunk of adamantine.

And I got... a tower-cap sword.

Yeah. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that it probably sucks balls.

So there's that, as well. It looks like the only chronic problems that water can't cure are nausea and cave spider bites.
Which, coincidentally enough, can be cured by magma.

I'm going to go out on a limb and call the tower cap sword from a raw chunk of adamantine a bug.

To the dorf pulling the lever, the lever is just a lever. The magma pouring out of the mountainside is just a coincidence. To the dorf designing a pump stack from the magma sea, it is just that: a pump stack. No specific reason for it. It will never do anything.
for reasons best knows to themselves, the elves decided to explode
