So I made it to the bottom and uncovered a small cache of this stuff. I've discovered 2 things so far:

1. Wafers will go into block stockpiles, but you can't store adamantine cloth or threads in a cloth stockpile. I found a loophole for this, make the cloth and set it to also be a finished goods stockpile. Finished goods adds the tag for material: adamantine so it allows adamantine materials to go into that pile. The threads and cloth can then be stored there.
2. If you make a flask out of adamantine you get an iron one instead.

So what should I do with it? I was thinking of making an uber suit of armour and some weapons. Any adventurer can then come along and attempt to claim the gear from my abandoned fortress, which by then will be brimming with monsters. Should be a fun quest.

Kit out my army with it, make some REALLY nice furniture, what ever is needed really.

A word to the wise, safest way to store adam items is inside a platinum bin. It weighs so much there is no chance of it getting misplaced.

I suggest making a platform over magma with only one support.  Place every last drop of Adamanitine on the bridge.  Roll the camera and destroy the support.

Then post it on Dwarftube with the tag, "What I do with Adamantium."

I make (and then forbid) a full set of adamantine clothing. I also forge (then forbid) a full suit of adamantine armor and a short sword.

Nothing, really. I always want masterwork stuff out of it, usually armor, but I've never gotten adamantine and a smith who will cooperate on a regular enough basis, so I never use it.

In the last version, I made armor and weapons galore.

In this version, the deposits are smaller, so I just do weapons.

Theyre smaller?  I dug through 100 straight levels of the stuff on a vanilla embark on the first square it started me on...  (I downloaded 31.01, created a world, hit play now and found more of the stuff than I ever thought possible.  I couldn't even find the hfs and I tried for like 4 hours)

The first thing I ever made with Adamantine (I'm new, that was only yesterday) was an adamantine battle axe.
It was exceptional, and it rocked!
My militia commander promptly threw away his old boring iron weapon and picked up that bad boy.
Of course he wanted to try it out and so hunted down some underground monster, not sure what it was.
The combat log was 3 lines long and the fight was over. He cut it cleanly in half with his first attack.
Adamantine ftw!

I made a years worth of addy armor, then came back and picked up a full suit of exceptional addy armor and a nice masterpiece battleaxe

Also since until the current version my millitary was the Dwarvern Marines, I had little use for armor.

By ARMOK they are fun!
By using a magma cannon and a water cannon you can cast obsidian under high pressure AND slay intruders with just the pull of a lever.
