Dire Predictions.

So, have you ever embarked with a random Fort Name, only to read it on the start screen and think 'Oh dear, this isn't going to end well?'

I just started my next fortress... Savagetombs.

/facepalm.

I had a place called "Watertomb"
Suffice to say, that fortress is now under the sea.

I had one where the prefix almost matched my actual last name.
It ended like all the other though.

I actually had a fort named Lovecraft in 40d. It was horrible.

My squads are named the Mechanical Twinkles and the Crystal Kisses. That's what I get for recruiting mostly females. I doubt their names will inspire fear in my enemies. I wish squads had banners so I could see flags of twinkles and kisses marching to war.

Can't remember any good fort names, but the first game of 31.01 called my group "The Channel of Discovery". Their wussiness did not, however, come in handy.

I made a scrap fort when DF2010 came out to go see if I could find the new HFS, you know what the fort's random name was?

BOATMURDERED

I kept it, it died to a forgotten beast. I would have laughed if it was an elephant, but it was just a blob of vomit or something.

With that name I bet it was.
(I havent read any lovecraftian books myself, but from the websites I've visited I have a vauge idea of what's might have happened in your fort.)

Something like bronzed wolfs or something like that.

Super accurate though.

Wolfs were super annoying untill I got my walls up and then when my fort was getting boring lo and behold a bronze collosus shows up. After deactivating my military (heh yeah right like I had one) I opened my gate and let the carnage ensue.

full of unknown substances and filth and depravity and thralldom and stuff.

Sadly it wasn't water. Oh well, fun with
