Spreading Forests
« on: April 13, 2010, 06:45:48 am »

So i was just watching the worldgen, and i noticed that a forest was growing, eating up the grasslands next to it, and then the worldgen switched to another location where grasslands were eating up forests and a desert was expanding outwards nearby.

Was this in before this version? Because i've never seen it before, and it is awesome.

Yes, it was there, and yes, it was always awesome.

Its even better when you notice that humans chop down forests, while elves plant them.

Or better yet watch a Human settlement at the beginning of World Gen cut down the trees, get wiped out during a war, remain Unclaimed by either party of the War and Nature slowly claim it back....

Say this happen in all the last Version, even checked Histories to check what was happening. The place remained Unclaimed and Nature Grew back around it...

Hah, i guess i never noticed it before because of the 'screen freeze' world gen bug in the d# updates.

Cute.

Also; all the Dorf civs are dead. The world is ruled by a pair of GIGANTIC Human civs that cover about a third of opposite corners of the map (seriously, MASSIVE civs), half a dozen tiny Elven civs in isolated areas that havn't met any non-elf in over a thousand years and a small handful of holdout Goblin civs in the mountains to the north and west who spend their lives in perpetual war with the two Human civs and each other.

Time to see if the abandon trick still works.

Yes, this game is awesome.
No major company could do what one man did, and is still doing.

They certainly could, they just choose not to because it's a smaller audience with a greater risk assessment. Anyone could have done it. Toady is the one who took the initiative to do it, and thus is the nature of a labor of love.

This is an Alder Omelette. All craftsdwarfship is of highest quality. It is encircled with bands of cheese. It menaces with spikes of bacon, ham, and peppers. On the object is an image of dwarves in egg white. The dwarves are eating.

He managed to ascend to godhood by making DF, I imagine there are a lot of companys that would like that status.

The Dwarf Fortress community is tiny. If DF was a commercial enterprise, it would have been deemed a failure years ago and cancelled.

P.S. Screw you Aussies.

Sorry, but here in Australia our government hates us, as we will soon lead a rebellion against the tired old men to burn them alive. There will be no survivors, and from that day on we will be free from our cyber tyrants.

I hear much support for the monarchy.

I hear the Union Jack's to remain.

Not really, we only keep that on our flag so we can join in on the commonwealth games. Apart from that the royals are just good for a laugh the few times they come over.

Truth be told, the British are the only ones they get any use out of there nobles, the rest of us would gladly pull the lever on them were it not for the fact that the bunch we have right now have so few mandates.

But back to earth, the Queen doesn't do anything, we don't worry about her, its a neutral do nothing relationship, so nothing will change.

Hilarious. In the US VEVO is the only way the riaa lets official videos of music play.

Anyway, it was a link to the video for this song.

Also: Australia hates happiness.

Ooh, the guitar hero song. Ok then, makes sense!

Don't worry, Square Enix HATES the US of A and sells crappy versions of there games over there, while here in Australia we get the good international version, so the world is evened out.
