Has anyone noticed some extremely long load times in this version compared to the last one? (0.31.01-02). I aborted loading a game after it sat on the load screen for 25 minutes. Thinking it was possibly the world, I tried to gen a new one- and stopped it at year 324, since it was taking around 40 seconds per year... Wondering what's up with that; I haven't seen those sort of slowdowns before.

Must be your computer as its going like normal for me, maybe a bit faster actually.

I think I'm going to keep holding out until the hospitals and military are fixed (including the worst of the combat balance issues, barring what can be modded). But, I certainly don't mind if crash bugs get priority.

It seems to load much faster for me.  I used to have to wait 6 minutes before the school computers would show any indication of DF starting when I ran it off my USB drive.  Now theres hardly a delay at all.

I did however get that infinite loading thing before.  It was after I had modified the save raws, and reloaded.  The save never loaded again.

Load times shouldn't have changed at all from 0.31.01-03 -- you did mean .03, right?  What size areas are you embarking on, what size worlds are you generating, and how much RAM do you have?

Identical worlds and memory as before- and 0.31.01 and 0.31.02 ran fine. I am running Mayday's graphic pack, though I don't see how that would affect things. Oh- I did copy a save from .02 into .03, but deleted it after playing it once and generated a new world. I may just redownload and start fresh if I still get slow loading and saving times.

Haha, I suppose it's theoretically possible that you got great performance in .02 because pathfinding bugs prevented any of your dwarves from trying to move.  Other than that I have no idea.  To make a real guess, I'd need to know... oh, do you have PARTIAL_PRINT turned on in /data/init/init.txt?

PARTIAL_PRINT was YES:2. My framerate's fine- it's the saving and loading that's slow. I set it to NO, just in case, though. Maybe turning off compressed saves might help?

It might help a little, you could try it.  Honestly the first thing I'd try is restarting my computer -- your virtual memory could be running low or something.

I have no speed issues to report (31.03), C2DE8200/2GBRAM, 3x3, 120 dwarves, >100FPS 99% of the time. It is unplayable on atom n450 though.. <10FPS, 2x2, 7 dwarves, w/speed tweaks.

Until the military is fixed, 40d imo.

And the traps are seriously underpowered now, it goes from one extremity to another. A few wild horses just went through a corridor of 20-ish stone traps without serious injury and MURDERED my fort of 12 dwarves. This is waaaay off.
