I drink some two pots of coffee a day and my idea of an exercise routine is doing what I can only call 'rifleman calisthenics' where I pump a carbine and occasionally bayonet a cardboard box. I like to keep my level of fitness calibrated to what is practical... I mean, if it were the 1100's, I'd drilling with a spear, because that's what I'd use when called up to the fyrd.

I also enjoy tossing the caber. Good times, Boy Scout caber tosses. Amazing what a dozen self-organized youths do for fun when all they have is a tree trunk. Screw N64, we've got STICKS! Stickfight!

I need a bow.

I'm drinking.

I'm on week three without the stuff and I'm still dragging, mostly after 8 hours
Have you tried insomnia? I used to be so hooked to caffeine that I'd get headaches for days if I didn't have some but even now without it I don't sleep much.

My problem when it comes to exercise is what appears to be a genetic lack of stamina. I was on a swim team for years, doing laps every morning at 6am and I never gained a lick of stamina. My Sister was a gymnast with an 8 pack and looked like a 10 year old body builder but she couldn't run worth a dang and got tired after less then a quarter mile. It's a curse and it makes exercise a complete bitch.

I havn't gotten to get to the gym lately because of life problems, but I'm taking One A Day, a vitamin supplement, and another pure B12 supplement to boost energy and metabolism, because according to my mother aspergers makes metabolism naturally low. Don't know about this, because, well, all the other people/kids I see with aspergers are a little chubby, eh. Anyway, I hope to go starting monday of next week.

The exercise has been going great so far, but due to a shift of work from second shift to really early in the morning, on a day's notice, I had really bad insomnia and only got 2 hours of sleep. Combined with yesterdays actions, today's 12 hour shift was horrible. No way I'm exercising today. Sadly, after about 8 hours in, I was to the brink of passing out, so I caved in and purchased a caffinated beverage. Hopefully I'll get sleep tonight, and not need it again. I'll give a status report in three or four days to cover the improvements since day one, and they have been vast.

This topic is going to be moved to Creative Projects tomorrow, it's better suited there

Eh.

I was telling myself I would get up early yesterday and go for a run before work.

But I didn't. So I'm postponing starting the exercise regime until next week, but I will start my weights regime this week sometime. Probably today sometimes.

On a better not, at work every now and again we get drink [for free], most people get coke or fanta or what have you. I'm happy to say I stopped myself and got water instead.

...

But then I caved in later and got a coke. Still, cutting out an entire drink from my diet is pretty drastic, and thus is difficult to do overnight.

Don't do it overnight! Withdrawal is a real thing, which sucks big time. Seriously, stretch it over a few days at least, and you won't get a horrible migraine and feel like you've been hit by a truck. I can officially say I don't crave caffeine or even soda anymore

You know what's good? Look for a soda called "Hansen's". If you get the diet they have no calories, no suger, no fat, no sodium, no carbs, no aspartame and yet still manage to taste pretty damn good. If you're like me and don't really like the taste of plain tap water then they're a good alternative.

No caffine either.

If I don't have any caffeinated beverages, I'm ok, if sleepy, for a few days, then I get hit by the mighty oil tanker of bad-mood-sleepy-headaches.

Cool. I was about to necro an old thread for working out. I'm down to 91 days until I ship, so I'm trying to get working out. Mostly for running, sit ups, push ups, and pull ups. I've got organized PT on Wednesdays and Fridays, but I'm going to try running after school on the other days.

Excellent, keep us updated.

Also, if you have experience with it, are military drills the way to go, pushing yourself all day everyday until you're about to go crazy, or is that all just for getting used to being told what to do?

I've heard both ways, doing a day on, day off, which is what I do, going every day, and the insane isometrics people, who do one crazy awesome rep, then take a week off

edit: report later today

First Report:

This whole operation is going very well. Although it's been off and on for a few months, I really got into the trend on the 12th. The results are viewable and positive.

Current regime (changes constantly):
Exercise machines every other day
Chest machine, bicep curl, chest press, ab press, occasional shoulder press, pull ups, elbow to other knee sit ups, planks, leg lifts (The inner and outer thigh machine is broken, else I'd be working on those obscure nether region areas too)

Every day:
Leg stretches, swimming (freestyle lap swimming, held breath practices), occasional elliptical machine, spa, sauna

Current results (16 days):
Weighing in at 170 pounds, dropped 3 fast and now seem to replace fat with muscle
Decreased arm fat, biceps have firmed and slightly expanded, little change in triceps
Very noticeable decrease in chest fat, chests firmed, enlarged pecs, more towards armpits than the center area
Very noticeable decrease in belly fat, toned and fat-free obliques, increase in tightness of abs, well on my way to creating defined muscle
Mild changes in legs, nothing substantial
Cardio vastly improved, I must be over the two week hump, as I tire from muscle fatigue instead of shortness of breath. Can swim a 50m in 35 seconds, which is average/good, but not great. Can hold breath underwater for 30 seconds of non-exercise

No cravings for soda, caffeine, seriously toned down non-meal snacks. Almost removed junk food. Drinking lots of water and fruit juice.
Combined with changes in my work schedule, I'm awake for the day and sleeping at night, being well rested. Sleep comes drastically easier. Depression significantly lessened, interest in other things increased. Motivation, and grades have increased. Self-image drastically improved, regaining narcissism well beyond my current accomplishments. Atypical hygiene improved. Video game afterglow removed, both trucker's and farmer's tan is evening out with the video game afterglow + full indoor winter. Social anxiety mildly lessened, both as cardio increases, lessening physical symptoms, and as self-image increases. Increased time in public without shirt (at pool).

Decrease in funds, as I've purchased more expensive personal care products, gym bag, 100 minutes of tanning, new Budweiser towel, goggles, slightly negated by saving over $20+ in soda, and probably $20+ in junk food. Increase in shoulder tension, both from swimming, high focus on chest, and my work schedule of three consecutive 12 hour days a week.

This is a vast improvement in only two weeks. I can surely imagine definitive results in under six weeks, and the possible return of my six pack by July. I'm going to add more focus on abs and triceps, and perhaps thighs and calfs.

I'm going to go to gym about now, but I've noticed an increase in fitness.

In PE today we were doing 50m sprints, two people racing at a time. In this particular race I did I was up against the fastest runner in our year.

He beat me by .27. :)

The endorphin feedback that people experience when working out only starts after some three months you do regular physical activity. Then it actually gets enjoyable.
I'm trying to go back to the exercise routine, but medical school (and in/out outbreaks of depression) always get in the way. The most I did was 2 months of regular gymming four times a week last january. (it did wonders though)

I really want that one as a "when". I want "grubs", and "virgin woman" to turn into a dragon. and monkey children to suddenly sprout wings. And I want the Dwarven Mutant Academy to only gain their powers upon reaching puberty. I also have a whole host of odd creatures that only make sense if I divide them into children and adults.

Also, tadpoles.

Got up at 5.30 AM today, started the 5x5 weights routine, wanted to do the army routine instead but they dont turn the treadmills on until later.

After that did some core work, then went back home at 7AM. Got to school at 8AM, had PE that day - did shot put.

Then I ran the 2k's home from school, not something I usually do. Bit difficult, my bag was pretty heavy.

Anyway, work in an hour.
