Iron Boatbucket, Fish Cleaner, is more experienced:
This green devourer is apparently not a horse!

YOU LIE.

Pet both tentacles to calm it!

I don't think I want to know what the trigger condition for that door was if me sitting on a blood-covered midget was considered close enough.

ANYWAY

Ride homieunculus into chamber, announcing myself in the style of a butler type figure at one of those olde-worlde posh ball type things, you know, with all titles, real and imaginary, and a brief summary of recent accomplishments? Man, those are the best announcements. Right? Who's with me?

Pet both tentacles to calm it!

attacks: d2=2, hit:d6=5, evade: d6=4, damage: 2d6=3
You try to pet the devourer but it bites you! The bite is too weak to inflict any damage...

hit:d6=1, evade: d6=2
You manage to pull your second arm away from the devourer just in time!
Seems the beast is not in the mood for petting...

You can hear somebody shouting from the left!

You go downwards, passing another rotten corpse. Two staircases deeper you see a group of dwarves in a great olivine cavern:

You walk into the chamber while sitting on the homunculus, so that it looks as if you rid him...
"I'm Bubbles McWarhead, master of the mighty ROY-ALA-TEE and bringer of justice! Prepare to die!"
The ROY-ALA-TEE buzzes a bit and then stops to emit light. You can now see a dark tome on the blue pedestal.
A cold chill runs down your spine as you look at it...

...when did it even begin emitting light?
Well, it matters not. After I consult this tome of sorcery I will have enough mad power to make the entire world emit light!
Or something like that.

I've been forgetting to read the marble figurine descriptions. Recursion FTW! :P

Windmill attack the devourer again! Also ask who's shouting.

You can actually carry one more item, so I'll evilly ignore half of your move!
(You can still throw it away the next turn...)
Sanity check(>4): d6=6
When touching the book you start in fright, but calm yourself down quickly.
You think you could open it, but is it worth the risk?
Stupid question, somehow...

"which way to the nearest dragon?"

You ask the dwarves about the next dragon. They look confused.
"...Luckily we didn't see any dragons here. Do you happen to have spotted any metal veins?"

>_

Windmill attack the devourer again! Also ask who's shouting.

special move check(>3): d6=3
You do not manage to perform such a difficult attack!

hit: d6-1=0, evade: d6=1
Meanwhile the devourer spits another stream of acid at the ground next to you!
You can hear a female voice: "Bubbles, is that you?"

(To speed up fighting, you can announce several combat turns at once. Just say which attack you use and under which circumstances you'll stop fighting)

After a few meters you meet a woodcutter and greet him soapiely. He just looks at you with bewilderment.

"Bubbles? I'm Iron, who are you?"

Use my FISTS OF FURY with weapons still attached. Actually, just sort of windmill attack after that, stopping to clean acid from me if hit with it and fleeing like a coward down the tunnel that other coward went down if I get dropped to below 5 health.

special move check(>3): d6=3 - You fail furyfisting the devourer!

hit: d6-1=0, evade: d6=2 - The beast spits at the ground!

The female voice: "Can you help me, I'm chained? And what are those noises??"

special move check(>3): d6=3 - You feebly try to furyfist your enemy!

hit: d6-1=4, evade: d6=2, dmg: 2d4-1=3 - A stream of acid hits your leg!

special move check(>3): d6=1 - The dice laugh at you!

attacks: d2=1, hit: d6=5, evade: d6=4, dmg: 2d6=2
The devourer performs another incredibly weak bite!

dmg: 2d4-1=5 - The acid starts to dissolve your legs!

>...

READ THE BOOK

You throw away your spinal cord. Well, it's not really your spinal cord, so...

Sanity check(>5): d6=6
You have to force yourself to do it, but you actually manage to open the scary book!

Sanity check(>5): d6=2
"F...."
As you read the first letters a vision of indescribable horror overcomes you!
(Luckiely I don't have to describe it!)
You don't think you want to read this. Really.

"no."
"what are you guys doing anyway?"

The axedwarf responds to your question:
"We are an expedition from Charmlash, looking for ressources in these caverns. We were ambushed by leechmen and lost many brave soldiers to them."
"Would you be interested in joining us? I think we need any help we can get, and you aren't safe alone, either, down here..."

>_

"Follow the road, it leads to the mountainhome."
"They'll decide how you can make yourself useful. Soapy..."
