I just can't wait until a GCS Silk creature invades. Look at the raws. At its strengths. Have you ever been told that spider silk is stronger than steel?

I think one of my favorite moments was when I finally figured out that throwing only works well on creatures SMALLER than yourself. I promptly threw a wolf into a tree, causing him to break. Nothing special but I love throwing living things.

I had a briefly cool moment, when my fortress became large enough and a human diplomat came up and asked me whether I wanted to join forces with their nation. (!)

Later I found out that my dwarves' people had been conquered by the humans long ago, and now the king, queen and all the liaison positions were filled by humans.  :(

Edit:
Also, this.

Cool update on my Jabberer story: he got slain by my chief medical dwarf. Imagine. Homicidical horror from caves killed by unarmed doctor.

So much for his Hippocratic Oath. For shame.

Unrelatedly, my adventurer went on to cut off three other people's noses, perhaps in retaliation, and then got both his index fingers shot off with arrows.

I think the hippocratic oath only covers your own species.
Also, I just threw my own ear at a cyclops in adventurer mode.
No effect.  :-\

How do you take screenshots, anyway?

I channeled enough infinite water sources (ocean, river, etc.) into the magma ocean that the water is destroying more magma than is being regenerated. The magma is already two Z-levels lower than normal. The water pressure sprayed water in a 15 tile wide diamond shape, out of a 1 tile wide hole.

alt-printscreen to capture the dwarf fortress window, then paste into an image editor and crop it if necessary. To put it in a post, upload the image to something like tinypic.com, then paste the code into the forum post.

** I've also got myself into a very sticky situation by building my trade depot underneath a magma reservoir. Now it's full of molten cheese - dwarven fondue?

Interesting. What are the properties of molten cheese? Can you move it around somehow and does it stick like blood or mud? My ideas include above an elven caravan or on top of other food.
I say it's time for a round of chupaquesos!
