Dig for regular caves and wait for the Forgotten Beasts to attack. Also, don't forget. For the more challenging things to happen you need at least 80 Dwarves and 10k export wealth, I believe.

i got 10k export wealth thanks to my first caravan, will I be in trouble now?

Maybe.  :)

(Not actually evasive, it really does depend on your world to a large extent.)

Some form of military and a series of overly complicated mechanical deathtraps never go amiss though!

1. Having "all civs present and accounted for" is clearly false if you haven't accounted for the goblins yet.

2. "Cavern." Keep digging, there's more, even if you've found the first non-dangerous cavern I've heard of.

3. As mentioned, hang tight for the new and improved uninvited guests.
