We'll order basic mining drones, more solar panels, more metal and electronics and more food.

We will also order weapons and digging machines.
My engineers and I will arm ourselves and try to dig for ore.

Okay, so we'll buy 4 of any digging tools that cost 500 a pop. Also, 30 metal and 30 electronics sound good, as well as researching stuff.

Space captain, sir! We'd like to order four drills; somewhere in the $500 price range sounds good. And two assault rifles, please.

Have them work on flying drones, things like the modern day Reavers.

The drills are taken from the shuttle, and 2000 creds are removed from your bank account. Assault rifles are on delivery only, and they are ordered. As you start ranting to the shuttle captain about the delay in digging, he hands you two handguns. "Here, use these untill I bring back the assault rifles." You also buy 30 metals, electronics and reagents, for 5c a piece.

The engineers take off with drills and the handguns and rifles, and soon you are helping them dig down in a spot where the ground looks somewhat firmer. The sand is a bit hard to make a nice shaft in, and you find nothing but clay under it, but you have the start of a mine just outside your base.

Your researchers work hard, and they manage to create a sloppy flying drone. It has no rotor, and not enough power to get up by itself, it has to be shot from the base and can flyquite a while from there, using air currents to stay up as long as possible. However, your researchers will need more practice before they can do more than flying around the base.

Commander Frederick hands the recently filled out order forms for various weapons to the supply ship. He then returns to his troops to give a rousing speech on how important their jobs are, before returning to his command console.

Order two energy sniper rifles and a man-portable missile launcher.
Send all four soldiers out to capture the first outpost.
Give helpful commands from my command console.

Commander Frederick has bought some supplies for his men and sent them out. In the mean time I will buy supplies to keep us trucking and have the bots fixed up some. I know it is against regulations but we are short staffed so I may need to hire some guns to help us on our mission.

I will buy enough mettle, electronics and mechanics to bring us up to 30 each. I will also buy 100 oxygen. I will ask about hiring people.

"Energy sniper... Missile launcher... Got it, that'll come at a total of 4000. Make sure you have it ready by next time."
The soldiers depart, hoping they can get the outpost down in a stealthy way. All goes well, and even without guns, the squad has stunned two guards before they can react. They proceed to sneak inside, and are just about to attack a patrol in the back, when suddenly over their radio the captain says: "Hi there guys, I can't see your cameras, bad connection, you'll have to tell me what you're doing for tactical advice." The patrol turns around and starts shooting - luckily, all of the soldiers get out alive. They take two energy rifles from the guards at the entrance.

The rovers get a new chassis, and are now sandproof - a day of testing confirms that. You also buy supplies from the shuttle, and ask the pilot about hiring people. "Well, I guess I can ask around on the spectre. I know a few people that could use the money, and from what I've heard, there's some organization as well. Count on, say, 1000-2000 creds per head, depending on their training."

Order some kind of flying aircraft-ish thingy, with a obsidian or magma-proof metal/rock storage bay for transporting large quantities of magma
Send all engineers out in the new aircraft to scout for volcanoes.
Persuade the shuttle pilot by offering him a beer and getting him drunk enough to weasel as much information out of him as possible.
Do boring paperwork

Order some lights that can be put in the shaft.
Have 2 miners set up a sensor at the bottom of the shaft, and have 2 other miners begin to dig a main area at the bottom of the shaft.
Have 2 engineers develop a mining cart.
Have 2 engineers develop a powered heavy freight elevator.
Buy 10 Electronics, Plate Metal, and Mechanics.
Order 10 units of rubber.

"You want a carrier drone? With a heat resistance cargo bay? Well, did you really expect I'd have that with me every time? You can order it, I'll bring one next time. But it might cost quite some creds. And don't even think about paying a carrier shuttle right now."
The engineers have a bad day. Not only is the whole area one big wasteland without even a hint of volcanism, they almost lost their way when the gps got dropped in the fine sand. When they come back, one of them is nearly dehydrated, but a night of resting and enough water will get him fit by tomorrow.
"And I sjay to 'im, you wont get mah monies, cusj y'know, I had themsj hid in mah shuttle, y'know, in the tiny sjpace-y under the sjteersjtuff, but youguysj are m'friendsj, y'know." The pilot is more than far gone when you put him in his bed for the night. Too bad the loading is automatic, you have no excuse to be in his shuttle, let alone a key.

((The difference between a shuttle and a drone, is, obviously, that a shuttle carries people.))

Lights are, luckily, standard issue, and strong static mining lamps are 50c each. You recon four will be enough for the main hall.
A sensor is placed in the shaft, and your miner start digging out a room to use as a main entrance area. Within a few hours, you have a nice place to start further mining from, and already you get a few readings of iron from the sensor - just 10 meters down.

When you go to the engineers' quarters, they are all gone - and when you ask x2yzh9, he tells you they are looking for volcanic activity in the vicinity.

And finally, you buy some stuff from the supply ship. Rubber is in cargo, so you can buy it directly.

As you may have noticed, most resources are 5c/unit (however, units of plate metal are bigger than electronics)
Guns are 500 (handguns), 1000 (rifles), and 1500 or more (heavy weapons)
People are 1000-2000, depending on job and training

Well, you now have 2 guns, if you want to buy two more, be quick :p pistols and blast rifles are standard.

I'll buy two sidearms before the ship leaves, and state my intentions to hire a mercenary soldier if he brings one with him next time.

"Right, troops. You're going back in again. They'll know we're coming, but we have to get in there before they can fortify themselves. I'll be searching the records for any information I can find about the renaming bases, so captain Xavier is in charge. Bring the guns, you'll need them."

Screw this, eh. Order a reactor and whatever else we need for a fusion power plant from the shuttle pilot as he leaves to bring it next time, instead of the carrier drone. Order the engineers to sketch out the plans for a fusion plant, and if enough time is left begin work on a fusion-powered industrial sector.
Inteuniso, I have plans for a fusion power plant, and I'd like to start harvesting and reaping the benefits of this planet-Please do get some metal and so on. Just eh, try and get quite a bit before the next supply ship comes.
