But, BCs can be killed in two ways that involve hitting it with things.

You take the head off, or chop the thing in half.
Yes, it's hard, and you'll need heavy weaponry (Lead, Gold, Platinum, etc) and luck, but it is doable.

It's not doable if it's damaged too much. Once the part is considered "shattered", you cannot do anything with it, so if you shatter its head, you cannot chop it off.

Well, I was sort of operating on the assumption that you needed to cut up this thing's torso something fierce before the heart was even exposed...

But I can't even get it to work in the first place.

Yes. Clearly a bug that ought to be fixed in the future, but exploit it in the meantime.

exactly, our problem ISN'T that we're not doing damage. It's that the death mechanics are somehow linked to organs and bleeding and stuff, rather than being dismembered. once something is shattered it basically gets stuck that way, unable to be harmed further, yet not KILLING the blighter...
