I am also wondering how the heck they built that bridge without an abominably high fatality rate when they put the supporting pillars down because Jeanne.

Magic. Etheric technology.  :P

I don't think Coyote would be devastating in a fight because he's a trickster god. Fighting isn't what they do. Not to say that he wouldn't be incredibly dangerous, but not in a direct manner the way Ysengrin would be.

Now Jones vs. Ysengrin.....there would be an interesting fight. Not that there would be any question of the outcome, but it would still be interesting.

But Eglamore said he had a chance to beat Jones if they had been outside. How? Swords bounce off her face. It's not like he could pin or grapple her due to her overwhelming strength. There's obviously something we don't know that would allow Eglamore to fight her fairly, and with Jeanne being more like Eglamore than Coyote, presumably she might have that unknown capability herself.

He probably would have just counted knocking her over as a win.  Its not like he was out for blood.

Depending on the deepness of the chasm they might not have had to go all of the way down. If you had a arch bridge design like this:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
then you only have to have connections that go part of the way down the sides of the chasm. Of course the more up and down the chasm is the longer your support attachments would need to be, but even if they were vertical you could still technically form a connection that would hold half of the bridge's weight.

It would be brutally difficult and probably won't work. In other words, it's absolutely dwarven!

That is... a really dark page.

And a fitting conclusion to the chapter, given the connotations.
For those unaware of the reference (and you really should be)

*wails* Why does the thing have to be so grotesquely phallic? Why!? I didn't want to contemplate the existence of the Lesser Ribbed Dongtoad! And now I am! It has teeth. Its existence makes my existence worse off!

Interesting bit....if you go back a few strips to where he's talking about her learning all the stories of the animals, she's drawn with the same gill slits on the side of the body and webbed hands as the Dongtoad (which is what I will forever more refer to it as).
