I've never heard the term in relation to kissing, but I know enough starfish biology to assume it involves vomiting your intestines into the other partners mouth, literally and/or metaphorically. This is also why you never attempt to kiss an actual starfish.


Don't get me started on the sea cucumbers.

Sorry, starfishing is a common term for a type of behaviour during... let us just say another type of intimate interaction; it refers to one of the partners doing basically nothing, just lying there spreadeagled. The resemblance is to a starfish. 

I assumed you would be familiar with it in it's original context, and understand what I was trying to imply; sometimes people think that kissing just entails opening your mouth a little and putting your lips on someone else's. No actual kissing motion or anything :/

Annie is on a first-name basis with a ghost, several personifications of death, a woman as old as Earth, a capricious trickster god and Zimmy. She didn't have as much as a snide comment to add when Kat's first boyfriend turned out to be a bird. She is literally a fire elemental. And they're worried that her views might be "traditional". Yeah, I'm not seeing it. :|

Reynardine's saying that because he doesn't really understand human society. It's more like a "this might be how things are, given what I know." It's also an excuse for Tom (that's the artist's name, right?) to build up drama.

inb4 Annie wasn't upset at all, just suddenly stumbling onto your best friend snogging some other girl was really awkward so she just left. Annie might have been disappointed or upset later, because it could mean that Kat had lied to her about having a crush when she was younger, or this could have been going on for a while but she didn't tell and hit it from Annie. It's like a lack of trust thing.

I'm also pretty sure Annie's not into Kat. I don't think that's how the story is going to go.
