Annie is losing her Mary Sue points rapidly with each new page, and I can't help but feel... happy for that.

Well, "the protagonist gets unduely punished by those in charge despite being the best/most fit for the job" is still a Mary Sue trait, after all. Especially when the ones with authority are being characterized as such few-dimensional stick-in-the-muds like the Headmaster/Court has been so far.

But then again such Sues doesn't often get passed over in favor of their friends, so yeah. I have confidence in Tom's writing ability, despite Annie's many Mary Sue points. Hopefully she'll get taken down a notch or two more before the chapter is up.

And now it is known! Some of us guessed it, many of us wondered about it, but now coyote extends the offer of being a honorary member of the forest and getting to work as the forest medium to Annie. The question now just remains, will she accept?

And I'm not sure I like the direction of the current events, it's one of those, things were going so well with the occasional adventure, why must you do this Tom, why must you do this, I don't want to see something so potentially horrible happen to the gang, noooooooo......

I actually saw this coming a mile away, and was wondering if this wasn't the whole point. The Headmaster knows Coyote likes Annie. She's been encouraged to spend far more time in the forest than the other two.

Annie has split loyalties, but despite how much Coyote likes her she is NOT loyal to the forest. Putting her in the medium role would have given the forest an edge. But getting her into the forest medium role?

Suddenly, the Court has a huge advantage in negotiations.

I think the headmaster expected this... although I think he's smart enough to make it seem like he disapproves of this turn of events, I doubt he actually will, and that this is exactly what he hoped for.
