I wasn't really thinking of her in that sense, just more of a "She was already there. She was ALWAYS there."

Cause, y'know....if you're going to make someone immortal, make them ridiculously immortal. She wouldn't even need to be a robot/unliving construct to explain the lack of emotion. After 4+ billion years, it's going to be very difficult to truly surprise her, and she's going to be very, very, VERY bored.

It's got to be World War II, I don't think anyone had strategic bombing capabilities in the first one.

Au contraire. But yeah, I think it's probably WWII.

Only problem with this is the human shape.

Next you'll be saying God isn't a surprisingly buff elderly gentleman with an impressive beard. :P

Besides, "Jones" wasn't her original name, who's to say that's her original form?

Calling it now - by the end of this chapter, we'll have seen an expression from Jones. Imagine that.

Hmm... Wandering Eye ----- Elizabeth, Emma... and now Jones...   I suppose she had to fake her death/disappear every now and then to avoid witchery/inconsistency/suspicion...

Well yeah...I mean, we've all seen Highlander. I guess the main things we're wondering now are:

1. What's her real name?
2. What kind of immortal is she?
3. What's her relationship to the Court?
4. Just how old is she?

I dunno..."Wandering Eye" is an old Egyptian honorific to descibe an aspect of Hathor or Sekhmet. You're still going with the Galatea theory, eh?

Possible, but (taken from the Jones Fact thread over at the Gunnerkrigg forums...) then there's this:

His response, coupled with his avatar, is really, *really* creepy.
