Renard really shouldn't have insulted her father; now she's discovered how much fun crushing someone's soul is.

I have to say, that is a truly impressive expression of malicious glee she's got going in panel 4 there.  Paraphrasing Renard's comment about Diego back at him, too.  Ouch.

Another fun point: Surma pretending to love Renard was to keep him under control so he wouldn't become a threat to the court.  Given that Antimony currently has total authority over Renard's actions (due to literally owning him), that control will be maintained even with the pretense broken.

Renard knows why she was like that.

That is one kickass comeback. I like how the perspective grows all skewed when the viewpoint character gets a shocking revelation.

Oh man, now the gloves are off and the claws are out, and BOTH parties in this argument feel like shit.

Also, did we just get an explanation for Annie's utter identicalness to her mother?  Hmm . . .

Maybe, but I think we got an explanation why her father (assuming he's still alive) doesn't seem to care about his daughter. The only thing he sees in her is the cause for his wife's death.

Damn, whatever ability Surma had, it must have been a curse in a way.

Still, one hell of a revelation and I wonder if the same thing happened to Surmas mother and her mother and who knows how far back it goes.

This might be reaching, but unless it was just quirkiness from Coyote's side, could this be the reason he thought Antie was Surma when they first met?

I have absolutely no idea what's going on in this fort any more. Migrants arrive, they die for some reason, the fort is flooded for another reason, then dwarves go mad, more dwarves die and I'm just laughing in my distress.

And why Renard doesn't like Annie's father.
He knew about it, but did it anyways.

It's his fault - he should've used condoms.
