Yea. She was killed by the Court, for some still unexplained reason.
In the Diego chapter, they sent her down here then had some dude shoot her.

The Archer, specifically. We have no idea who he is, but I got a "just doin' mah job" vibe off of him. Didn't have the sneaking malice Diego has.

I wonder where the arrow hit hit. From the angle she's lying she clearly had time to lie down in that position and there's not marks on her front.

Maybe the arrow disappears when it hits, or does that sort of wooshy 'entering the body and then sorta disappearing' thing that lasers do in sci-fi shows.

Exactly what I wondered too after being reminded about the archer. It really looks like she lied down and died, not like she was killed.

Possibly the arrow was both poisonous and etheric. It hits her, enters her like a smoke or poison and then she dies. Maybe?

Maybe she sleeps like that and he just shot her there. Maybe she knew she was going to die and posed.

Or, you know, maybe someone took it. Like one of the suicide fairies.

From the way she fell, and the fact that her front has no holes her corpse would have had to be disturbed for that to be true.

Or perhaps they took it and then laid her out like that in respect for her. She was a good friend of the Woods.

Except, well, wrong side of the river.

The fairies are on the other bank, and aren't allowed to cross the river.
They might have done, though, and not been found out. But I think ghost-Jeanes job was/is to make sure spirits and other woodsy-folk couldn't cross over.

That's true, I hadn't thought that might be her job.

It would make a little sense for the projectile to be ethereal-like or otherwise "magical", since the goal was to trap her spirit down there. After all, we never got to see the Archer shoot, did we?
Or maybe the entrapmentity is something inherit to the river. I don't remember if anything was said on the matter.

She could have been hit in the heart though, would be fittingly dramatic, as the gown doesn't cover her shoulders. But the pose is just too.. posed for her to have fallen that way. In my most humble opinion, at least. It would just be far too dramatic.

It depends on the mythos that's at play here. They had to have killed her in such a way that none of the psychopomps could get to her and retrieve her soul.
