My money was on subconscious spider clone only lonely people can see, but yeah, on second thought that looks more likely.

She's always had heavy eye shadow/baggy eyes.

I would guess she doesn't sleep a huge amount.

Indeed.  She tries to keep up with Zimmy, but Zimmy doesn't sleep at all.  It's not really healthy for Gamma, but as far as Gamma's concerned, it's OK because her being asleep (and unable to suppress Zimmy's nightmares) is bad for Zimmy.
