Sure, one of em may be immortal... but James is only with her cause she is the rebound?  Plus, seems the relationship is platonic and not the crush/infatuation kind?

I think James thinks of her as, uh... big sister/good friend? Someone with whom he can hang out, and in case of need, also get a hug.

Still, how old is she? If we assume she is a construct, wen she was created? At the very creation of the Court? One of defense automata made after the Forest/Court schism?

I would doubt that, if she is neutral like she claims/Coyote implies. I'm feeling older than the Court. Earth elemental/human hybrid is probably out, since she can't use a blinker stone.

Welp, we can now place her reliably at 100+ (or older...it's not clear if that's WWI or WWII). And having a life outside the Court.

Kudos for the nod to filling factories and the homefront industries during the war. I once met a fascinating old lady in Australia who had worked in a cordite factory during WWII.

Why do I get the feeling this chapter is going to end with "Jones" standing around looking impassively at the first tetrapod waddling onto land in the Devonian period, and saying "...this may complicate things."

Hmmm, a passive Creator-Mother-Goddess construct? There's many tales about a 'female' giving birth to the rest of creatures in quite a lot of mythologies.
