Update Help
« on: April 10, 2010, 08:23:02 pm »

I've been playing this game for a short while. I downloaded what I am guessing is an out of date version of the game.

Is there a way to get the version that looks like the picture that I linked to below without losing my data (will copying the save file work)?

Also, can I get square grid partitions with 1024x600 resolution?
Thanks for the help.

The current version of the game is 0.31.02. Graphics have never, and (supposedly) WILL never be officially packaged with the game.

For Mike Mayday's tileset, visit his webpage: http://mayday.w.staszic.waw.pl/

Or for a list of other tilesets, you can visit the dwarf fortress wiki: http://df.magmawiki.com/index.php/Tileset_repository (Note that the newest version is very recent, and most of these can be outdated).

To change the resolution, go into your init.txt file in the data/init folder.

Try here for changing the grid.

The wiki also is helpful on many topics and if it does not help you try asking for help here

Ahhhh
Thanks a lot. I had downloaded the latest version from the main site so I was confused. I really like the original graphics but I wanted to try the other one. Now I understand how it works, too.

Also...Do you guys know how I can get the animals to stop gathering in my dining room without locking some doors?

Create another meeting area somewhere else and they'll head over there (but so will your dwarves). Or you can build a single cage (->[j]) and assign any annoying animals to it ([q]->[a](over the cage))
