I've started building small atomsmashers near my usual battle sites.  Helps with the cleanup.

I used to smash everything except the metal stuff, which I usually melted.  Nowadays with the melting crash, I just smash everything.

Ah-HA! Thank you, Jumpp, you just solved a mystery for me that I was unaware of. I suspected of course but I had done many things just before that crash and wasn't sure why it happened.

That is a wasteful idea that recklessly endangers life. I applaud your genius!
There are as many ways to play the game as there are socks on a battlefield.

In an attempt to increase framerate and reduce clutter, I had built an atom smasher with a green glass bridge--and all it did was throw the stuff under the bridge around.

You need to make it a raising bridge, not a retracting bridge.

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.
