No more 'Narrow' goblin cloathing?
« on: April 10, 2010, 06:39:09 pm »

Is this intentional or a bug?
human clothing is still tagged as 'Large'.

From another thread, this seems to be intentional. Its all for the better since one of the (or THE) major complaints involving sieges are the piles and piles of unwearable narrow clothing and armor.

Thank goodness cause I usually set up an atomsmashing bridge just to get rid of crap like that. On the other hand...will I ever have to make my own clothes again?

I believe dwarves, elves, and goblins are all the same size now, and humans are a bit larger. Check here to see.

Well, if you want to have high quality clothes, then yes, otherwise it makes the clothier almost useless. I say almost because the clothier is used to make a couple stuff besides clothes and also for decoration.

Still going to end up with a gigantic pile of stuff, especially silk, and it doesn't change the hauling issue much.

Of course; you might not want your dwarves wandering around wearing dresses scavenged from elven corpses...

Dwarven economics are still in the experimental stages. The humans have told them that they need to throw a lot of money around to get things going, but every time the dwarves try all they just end up with a bunch of coins lying all over the place.

Why not just make clothes out of elves or goblin skins?  :D

Also I mod clothes out of my game. Its just annoying and tedious hauling jobs.

So it's possible to now butcher humanoid corpses and obtain their skins? I'm seriously asking this, because I have yet to play .31.

Only if you mod it so that you can do so.

That was specific and useful. Thank you.

Just adjust your civ ethics.

I'm going to try, but I always thought this didn't work and only influenced inter-species relations.

EDIT: I've changed both my eat_sapient_kill and eat_sapient_other tags to acceptable, and it didn't work. Do I need to regen for this? Or is this perhaps a .31 thing? As I said, I'm still playing 40d.

Try adding the [BUTCHERABLE] tag and/or removing [BUTCHERABLE_NONSTANDARD].

Maybe throw in [PET] for good measure...

I could do that, but I don't really care about the mod itself. What I meant was that making humanoids butcherable wasn't all that clear cut in 40d. In fact, I believe it was impossible unless you first tamed them, thus definitely keeping you from producing meat and leather out of invaders' corpses if you kill them "normally". Also, there is no butcherable tag in 40d, and butcherable_nonstandard is nonfunctional.

Whether any of what you proposed would work in .31 I wouldn't know.

Oh, you're still using 40D?

Won't work.

Works just fine in 31.03 though.
