Well, my interpretation is that clowns are all sexual predators, and so some of the old HFS is like a clown that way. Another is that you open the door and all the clowns pile out.

Took me a few to find it but here it is, the source of the whole 'clown' thing...  I personally thought it was sort of lame when it happened as well, but I usually just go with the flow.

I'm fine with HFS for a broad overarching term. Worked well in the past, should work fine for now.

My brother and I had a good laugh over reading the descriptions of some of the individual entities. We now call them "Pokemon" as a kind of in-joke referring to some of the bizarre forms that we have witnessed.

I think the "clown" gag is stupid.  Call them HFS, spoiler them, or make a vague reference to death and suffering when you dig to greedily.

I prefer the latter as it's the most dramatic and leaves those people who are yet unspoilt curious but also afraid of what might be down there.
