Elven caravan

The elves just brought in about five pages worth of caged animals.  I can finally get that warthog and buzzard ranch going!

Any beastmen? If there are, you can use them to work, I believe.

No beastmen.  Warthogs, buzzards, hoary marmots, rhesus macaques, foxes, goats, wolves, bears, groundhogs, cougars, raccoons and regular domesticated animals but no animalmen.  Maybe next caravan.

Such a shame. Usually, elves bring beastmen.
Oh well.

I had one beastman but he died while in the stockpile sadly. I'm liking the new elves thus far though, I've gotten cougars, tigers, gorillas, and even elephants off them.

I was VERY lucky to have them bring me 5, yes FIVE elephants last visit. Then I found out they were all male... ::)

But yea, they bring cool stuff now, and at least a bajillion pages of thread.

I flooded the entire 4 z-levels around my volcano fortress with magma
now I have a fortress INSIDE the vocano pipe, but no migrants, elves, sieges, ambushes :(
I think I might abandon soon
I wish there was a way to retire the fort so that the dwarves keep going like a regular AI civ would do

I've found that other dwarves would build a settlement on the area I abandoned.

Last elven caravan brought four grizzly bears amongst other assorted animals. Three females and one male. They were immediatly turned into war grizzly bears and one female was set to guard my fortress entrance against the threat of kobold thieves!

Beast-men wont work. Iv got a couple of Tigermen in my fort and all they do is hang around the meeting area. I cant assign them work either under "L"abor its the standard "This animal cant work" message. Which is a shame cause having Tigermen helping around my fort would have been AWESOME!

Or, wiping out Orc forts. It's harder than it sounds. And it sounds pretty hard.

Beastmen wont do labor, but they will help defend your fortress!

Would it not be possible to modify beastmen to work?

Are you sure it's not just that they don't have any labors secretly enabled that you have jobs for?

It may also be the fact that, in Dwarven society:

Yikes, the Orcs have a nasty language.  Traditional foreplay would be right out for them; how would they ever "say my name" for one another?  No wonder Ocrs are always so bloodthirsty and violent, they're getting sub-par action.
