   [USE_MATERIAL_TEMPLATE:BLOOD:GFRBLOOD_TEMPLATE]
   [BLOOD:LOCAL_CREATURE_MAT:GFRBLOOD:LIQUID]

Those two need to match up. It doesn't matter what they end up as, they're just labels.
I did that and the same things happaning.

Shouldn't be, I'm getting giant fire rat fire blood regardless of what those two parts end up as.

Just to check off the obvious, are you editing the right text file?

Honestly at the time, I didn't see what could go wrong with crowding 80 military Dwarves into a small room with a necromancer for the purpose of making bacon.

I'm sure. Is it because I have the blood template and the animal in the same file.

They do need to be in different files, yes. Are they both pasted into one of the creature files at the moment?

To sort out the material template, create a new text file called material_template_gfrat, write material_template_gfrat on the first line, and then on a separate line copy everything from [OBJECT:MATERIAL_TEMPLATE] onwards.

The [OBJECT:whatever] tag tells the game what kind of file it's dealing with, and how it should handle what's written in the file. You can only use one of these per file, and it has to go before anything else except the plain text at the top.

It may have been the fact that it had it's own file and was in the creature file.

Edit:Yeah that was it.

Quick question:

Edit: Okay, that picture's not showing up for me. http://img846.imageshack.us/f/capturetoeabuse.png

Did I just mangle a body part so badly that there is nothing left of it to attack?

Either that, or the body part has no solid tissues.

Couldn't you theoretically make chickens defecate bricks or human corpses by use of [LAYS_UNUSUAL_EGG:-:-] tag?

You can make anything lay anything that a reaction can produce.
Of which corpses are not, as far as I know.

I am trying to make shearable rabbits (Rabbits are, after all, used for fur), though with he cadbury twist of producing eggs.  Easter bunnies, you might say.  However neither are the bunnies shearable, nor are their eggs of any use, even after being placed in the stockpile: they do not show up in the kitchen and cannot be eaten.  Here's what I have.  Any ideas?

I'm pretty sure you can.

CORPSEPIECE and several other item tokens crash the game upon attempted use.

Including the CORPSE token itself? Pity.
