I am having some trouble. I have defined the material in 'inorganic_mods' but I don't know how to make the bite reference this material. Does [USE_MATERIAL_TEMPLATE] work if I for example say [USE_MATERIAL_TEMPLATE:INORGANIC:CREATURE_EXTRACT_TEMPLATE]? Or do I have to define the inconflagravium in the creature's own tags?

that will define INORGANIC using the CREATURE EXTRACT template.

I think what you want is to add [SPECIALATTACK_INJECT_EXTRACT:INORGANIC:inconflagavium:LIQUID:100:100] to it's bite attack. alhtough, I'm not sure how well thermal effects from injected materials work..

Well, now, it's working but it doesn't instantly kill, or even damage- tested against an Emperor penguin. 'Inconflagravium splatters over the left flipper!' No damage seems to occur, even though Inconflagravium is 59,999U.

Any conflicts in legends between them and surfacers?

Nope, I didn't see them at all in legends mode. I think [LAYER_LINKED] prevents that.
It's been like six years in to that fortress and they still haven't shown up... I'm not going to say that it doesn't work until they show up on the surface or something, though.

I have a campfire in my caverns... Runesmith says there are Olm Men waiting in ambush. The moment of truth is approaching ;)

EDIT: Good thing I waited with re-opening the caverns, they waited and waited and then... Ambush! Curse them! A Giant Rat Child was born fighting (invader mount breeding bug) and revealed an invading force of 41 Olm Men blowgunners :o I would let them in for goblinite if they had anything besides mounts (cave crocs, elk birds, giant rats etc) and blowguns.

If I'm reading this right, you actually got sieged by the undergrotto denizens?

No siege yet, just ambushes. Mind you, I've seen weaker sieges in terms of numbers :p

Well, at least you were able to do a little !!science!! and prove that LAYER_LINKED does not affect ambushes, provided the proper tags were there.

Oh, this is awesome! I'm not certain why the tests I did with that did not work - I guess it's because they didn't have [BABYSNATCHER] or [ITEM_THIEF] in their entity, even though not being able to speak should automatically create hostile relationships. Still, great find, thank you.

Curious to know, if anyone using creatures that have multiple breeding castes, have seen them marry and have children.

I am using Rhenaya's drows from http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=70258.0 and there are 2 male and 2 female castes. (drow male, albino drow male, drow female, albino drow female)

I have several female albino drow females, but none of them seem to ever obtain a lover or husband. I've had several eligible males locked in the same room with them for a couple of years, but nothing happens. This strategy works for normal females though, with them falling in love within a couple months at most.

So, am I just having bad luck so far? Or are multiple castes problematic for the game's recognition of genders for falling in love ?

Deon's Genesis mod has lots of castes for dwarves, male and female of each. They work just fine in my experience. So it's either bad luck, or just some misspelling in your raws.

Your castes are declared incorrectly.  You have nothing declared for the female caste.  The male caste, on the other hand, is declared to lay eggs.  You also have the male caste being the only caste needing to not breathe/eat/sleep/drink/whatever, as well only the male caste being intelligent.

I'm also fairly certain PLAIN is not a valid biome.

When you declare a caste, all tags under that caste tag will be set to that caste and that caste only. Look at the human/dwarf raws for an example.

When you declare a caste, all tags under that caste tag will be set to that caste and that caste only.
At least until you put [SELECT_CASTE:'X'](can be 'ALL') which could have one or several [SELECT_ADDITIONAL_CASTE:'Y']s following it, so they're for those castes instead.
To further add to Putnam: I suggest at taking a heavy look at the dwarf RAWs first as they have annotations.
