I guess we wait for the color-fixing, whereafter we all cum in awe

What if we do another one that connects to the right side of this picture?

Already done
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
:)

More seriously, that's a good idea, but would need some more contributors to finish this before 2012 ;)

Heh. Maybe. But we can try. If it doesn't work, we still have our first part to brag about and hang above our bed. Or something. If it does work, we might start a tradition that ends with one epic picture consisting of thousands of these little 64*64 squares. Okay, that's a bit of my inner megalomaniac speaking, but I'd say it's worth trying.

YAY! It is done. And BTW, 7x8? AAUGH!! RECURSIONS!!!!

Nice work Armok for breaking our minds.

Actually, that should apply to all of us for making this in all different perspectives simultaneously.

Maybe the next one should be done entirely in a pre-specified perspective.

I suppose a decent thing to do is make a pre-made grid with a (pair of) VP(s)and perspective lines running through for those willing to claim one to have an idea of what perspective to keep. You know, something like:

\|/
-+-
/|\

The + being a Vanishing Point.

It'd be cool if we did a small isometric tranigle thing, with everyone getting a cube face, like so (but possibly with less cubes that are larger):

Each cube would have contributions from three members. Just throwing it out there.

Qwertyuiopas? You said you would do a composite image that contained some kind of credits too.

For perspective, I think it would be better to leave the guidelines as this one, but just ask people to pay attention to the perspectives. We can probably limit it to four perspectives, one for each corner. These things flourish on chaos.

So, should we go up, right, left, or down for the next one? My vote goes to going up; paint the stars!

Imagine a cool peice of sky-blue and milk-white marble about 3cm by 2cm and by 0.5cm, containing a tiny 2mm malacolite crystal. Now imagine the miles of metamorphic rock it's embedded in that no pick or chisel will ever touch. Then, imagine that those miles will melt back into their mantle long before any telescope even refracts an image of their planet. The watchers will be so excited to have that image too.

Oh, I remember seeing some of those. But for consistency-sake, and challenge, there would have to be a sort of limited palette to work with so they can blend together easier.
