How the heck is he carrying that?
« on: April 09, 2010, 09:11:23 pm »

So, somehow, my dwarves got their hands on a whale corpse.

Then my butcher singlehandedly carries it all the way to the other end of the map to butcher it.

See title for question.

Yes. Clearly a bug that ought to be fixed in the future, but exploit it in the meantime.

Heh, Dwarves are like ants in that they are capable of carrying things many many times their weight.

Maybe it was a particularily light whale?

Would be hilarious to see a dwarf try and stuff an entire whale corpse into the butchers shop.

Since a whale and a mountain gnome occupies the same amount of space for now...nothing unusual with current DF quantum physic :P
but it might be fun to check the weight of that whale corpse(might be well into the fourth or even the fifth digit), and ponder about the strength of the dwarves we've got here...
Personally I'd love to see some multi-tiled creatures beside wagons in the future versions(no matter how unlikely that sounds)

If you think that's strange, not long ago, at some fort I abandoned.
A racoon stole a battleaxe.
Why it stole that particulary item I do not understand.. even less how it should be able to carry it.

There were five digits to the whale corpse's weight, and the first number was either 2 or 3.

Um, I think I have a problem here. If a dwarf gets 90% done with something, and another dwarf takes over, does the second dwarf start out at 0%? This could be bad, my dwarves are all too ADHD to finish butchering it.

That is strange. My dwarves regularly starve to death in the workshops.

Does soap bars have their price modified by their raw material? If so I'm going to make a whale tallow soap plant out of this alongside with various +whale tripe roast+ and *whale bone earring* for exporting...

WE HAVE FRESHWATER!!!BY THE ARMOK IT'S AN OCEAN FULL OF THESE!!!
(Although there are freshwater regions of ocean in real world(like the outlets of various major rivers)...it's still rare...and in DF physics...I've never seen a freshwater ocean before...)
EDIT: a bit grammarical cleanup
