You say there's always magma if you go down far enough? You mean half-molten rock?

Using the default worldgen settings of any size, yes. Magma seas are surrounded by semi-molten rock, which is impenetrable. If you hit it, go back up, move maybe 15-25 tiles to the side in any direction, and try going down again. Believe me, it's there.

I might do this. Might. Small probability. Quite very small.

Yes, it's quite fun to find!

Next you'll be telling me I can just dig to the edge of the map and the trade caravan will come in through a tunnel...

I dunno, you guys have survived Thomas the tank engine, golems, zombies, nuclear explosions, laser whales, and being on the same team as ragnarock.  I don't think something as tame as a world ending rain of lava will even slow you guys down.

Now, does it have to be a throne room, or can I make it an epic tomb crypt mausoleum Hall of the Dead City of the Dead?

Must it be *over* the magma sea, or can we put it *in* the magma sea?  How about *under* so long as we then surround it by magma, say by breaching the magma sea from below and flooding around it?

... I think I just had an idea so crazy I have to try it. Is it possible to make the magma sea bigger?...

If the magma sea gets refilled from the edges it might be possible to just dig away the rock to expand.
It's a pity here's no air pockets over the magma sea. because of the cavern just above the magma layer i will have to drain some of the magma to be able to make it suspended.

I'm pretty sure that there is un-minable rock beneath the magma sea called "slade," which is NOT the villain from Teen Titans.

You're thinking of semi-molten rock (which is also unmineable) - slade floors somewhere but does not roof it. There are still pockets of regular rock within the sea, but you'll need to pour water and mine down just to get there.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who thought of this.

My throne is under construction, but would look SO much nicer with 3d visualizers.

Extra points for a self destruct lever, I presume? Very well! Self destructible it is!

Hmmm... I was thinking like have one lever that drops the entire throne room into the magma sea.... XD

How 'bout a leaver that drops THE REST OF THE FORTRESS into the lava, leaving the throne room intact?  ::)

Anyways, I'll go ahead and build one in my fort unless I find a way to have more Fun first.  I'm not to experienced though, so I won't be able to use my idea. :P

However, anyone else can feel free.

can we set whatever world generation settings we want as long as we keep every layer? i mean, increasing cavern openness and decreasing passage density
