Best solution I can think of offhand is get a better computer (ie. a PC).

Some people don't have a choice I guess. Either they were suckered in by the whole "Easier to use" thing and now they can't afford a PC because they spent their money on a Mac, or maybe he's underaged and his parents are Mac fans.

Either way, I suggest learning the ASCII. It'll make you a better person.

Not sure if the problem is your mac. Are you using create new world now?

A mac is a pc... but enough of that pointlessness

You might be best of waiting for the 0.31 mac port, however you can just download the old mac vanilla version and the graphics files for your tileset. Then you edit the init.ini to point at it. All the details are on the wiki :)

That is the section you need to play with. You can probably lift it directly from your broken mayday build (I'm assuming it's a damaged file that is cause the endless rejects)

I must agree that I dislike macs along with apple and most of it's products, but crucifying someone for owning one instead of helping them isn't very "keen" and it certainly isn't "the bee's knees".
Unless said person is an elitist prick, of course.

DF2010 doesn't work with Mac, as far as I know. 40d does. Are you using 40d?

I have nothing further to contribute.

I've a mac and I use the mayday hack version of df2010, under wine.

get this program:
http://winebottler.kronenberg.org/

(reboot after install, just in case)
get df2010 version from mayday here:
http://mayday.w.staszic.waw.pl/df.php

added bonus, dwarf therapist works too under wine!

when dwarf therapist gets out of sync, save and reload the game.
(this happens under windows too)

also, please specify the model and revision of your mac, it may have something to do with the graphic card inside (the geforce 9400 works fine)

..for other mac haters: open another thread for mac bashing, this guy here needs an actual help and not the trite "get a real pc" stuff. (I hate macs too but that's what I got for free, so meh, until *you* can provide him a free win pc that runs dwarf fortress fine)

you may need some tweaking to the init file if you get low frame rate, but I'll wait for you to get a game up and running before digging further into init editing.

I just don't get why people would buy a computer knowing they have to buy Windows and run it on another application so they can actually do anything.

Could you stop posting flamebait?  It is not really contributing to the OP.

On topic:  if you are getting rejections on the world generation... generally not an issue with tile sets.  I'd check your worldgen parameters and see if there is anything you can change.  Usually at some point it will tell you why you're getting so many rejections.
