Thanks for all the work, mayday has always been my tileset of choice.

I haven't played DF in a while and just tried the latest version and noticed how some graphics have changed. Bags use the male symbol for instance, mechanisms don't look like gears any more but use the Ç symbol.
What was the reason to change some graphics back to ascii characters?

I'm reworking the tileset, so some things were reverted. Everything will be even groovier than before with the next version. So just wait for 34.03!

Reading the changlelog I just noticed that, so sorry for wasting your time explaining it and thanks again for all the effort. :)

Argh, I am an ass of the largest size as I forgot to say "thank you". Not for getting out _2 in such short order (which was awesome, did I mention that?), but for making such a great tileset in general. Not only is it visually easy to use, but it looks outright pleasant. After an initial foray into DF many years ago with the standard tileset, I discovered Mayday's and have used it ever since.

Ihmhi- it's ok, you guys don't owe me anything and I'm glad you enjoy the set.
New version will be up in a minute, please report any problems here.

All the tileset tricks have been restored, I'll now move on to implementing graphics for the new creatures (though I imagine I'll mostly be using stuff from the community, like kafine, Thrin and Kohaku).

I'm anxious to get the new version just because I've got a squad of dwarves that practice archery gangster style (by shooting live things).

How do I get rid of the dark brown background that's behind all the tiles and truetype text? I set the init to use mayday-NO-BACKGROUND.png but that hasn't fixed it, neither has turning off truetype. I prefer the black background it used to have.

-edit: Fixed it, need to change the three Black values in init/color to 0.

Ouch forgot I was experimenting with colours, sorry :/

Also, please refrain from exporting images while worldgenning. That will save me the necessity to update to 34.04 :P

Sorry to be a bother, but I learned to play Dwarf Fortress using this excellent tileset and it remains my favourite, but having just recently begun playing again since 2012 was released I'm having a weird issue with it.

I couldn't find mention of this, but I am a bit unobservant, so I apologise if the answer has already been given a hundred times... :x

What is wrong with my text? It's all misaligned, and things like the 'D' for Dump on item pages gets pushed off the display area and disappears, so I can't see what I have marked for dumping.

Thanks for any help. And also, thanks Mayday for continuing your work on this. :)

This, good sir, is a sign of innovation! The way of the future! Surely, you're not AGAINST innovation?!

In other words, I've decided to fully switch to the TrueType font (to allow for more graphic tiles) but unfortunately Toady and Baughn are still ironing the kinks of TrueType support. I imagine this will be fixed within the next few versions.
In the specific case of the in-game menu, you can always press Tab to expand it and reveal the text that, but of course this shouldn't be necessary.

BTW, does anybody have a problem with smoother, textured ground/water tiles (like Ironhand's)? I've been pondering switching to them for quite some time.

I actually prefer the water tiles as they are now. They seem more... watery :P

Well, I used Ironhand for a while before this. Whilst it does give a 'cleaner' look I suppose, I'm not sure I prefer it.

I switched back over to your set because I prefer the aesthetics, and I think the current textures it has look more DFy to me. x)

Thanks for the lightning fast answer, by the way. I thought it might be something to do with the TrueType, but the only thread I found on the issue was from back in March '11.

I guess not, but switching to Ironhand graphics makes your texture pack less unique and lose it's unique style.

Been a Mayday user since my starts 40d, tried ironhand once for DF 0.25.18, thought it was confusing and I couldn't see clearly things, switched back to Mayday. Hell I really hate playing the game without it.

But do what you want I guess, i'll mod the textures if they don't please me anyway.

Nah, I can see where you guys I'm going from... I've been trying to keep everything in the same style, even when swiping tiles from other creators.
And Ironhand has a very cool unique style- so it may not necessarily fit.
Well, it's probably gonna stay optional.

I'd recommend sticking to your own style, too. Phoebus and Ironhand both do great work, but yours was part of my introduction to DF so it's always been "the" look for me somehow. ;)
